Im putting an eye on an RME 9652 card.
Now, from what Im reading, its all digital outputs, so my question is.
Is there a standard or recommended converter in order to record into the souncard and to have the analog outputs.
Thanks. |

My second question is, do the DSP that come with the card take off some strain on the computer CPU, why are those babies highly recommended.

not sure but i think only the HDSP 96/52 come with a dsp used for internal routing ,so it s the same for the cpu,you have analog i/o on it too.how many i/o do you need? for the price i think the hdsp 96/32 or 52 is a good buy ,or mulitface 2/fireface if you need more i/o ,if you want a converter check the adi 2. |

i dont think this card is even sold anymore..correct me if i am wrong.
we have the 9632 which is same card just less channels...
we have it hooked into our digital mixer via ADAT...
pretty standard

correct me if i'm wrong but A/D converters aren't one of the main things that defines the price of a soundcard?
DSP plugins have (normaly, don't know about RME) 0% cpu usage and 0 latency which makes them highly recomended. even if they aren't good, they are a jewel for live performances.

yea no FX effects....in expensive cards
and they are defined (price wise) on the quality of the A/D D/A converters...as well as how manys i/o's they provide....
