hey,

so iv been hooked on quake 4 for the past two weeks and i wanna use some sounds from the game in some trax...im on a mac and i used audio hijack pro to record but when i select my line in to record i get feedback so i dont know what to do about it,audio hijack doesnt have much options to remove the feedback...is therea solution ? or a website with quake 4 sounds ??

I used to rip sound out of games years ago to use as windows events - back before I had any sense, more patience and didn't want a silent PC for music production that doesn't go 'DING!!!!' every 2 minutes.

I can tell you that if you search, there is almost certainly a program specific to your game that will extract the sounds at perfect quality.

I think Quake uses the same PAK files to store all the gfx and sound and it's also a very modular and modded game - so no doubt there are programs to extract sounds.

Anyway, you shouldn't be playing games.. get on with your music boy!

If I'm not mistaken PAKs are just renamed ZIP files.

they are all .wav in the install folder or maybe i did something sometimes ago, i dont remember ,try with winzip ,but they are bad sounding !

if you go to the sound setup (with windows) you can route the sound internally... i duno if you can do the same with a mac....

but some sort of internal routing is needed...

quake 4 samples can b unzipped by any software

OGG files are kept in ond of the File folders named AUDIO .
