Alright, I started virtualdub, loaded the movie (divx) and saved the sound as wav. Prob is, the file, whose extenion is wav, isn't recognized as a wav file (by wavelab, sounforge etc).

This is divx, my soundforgde doesn't read it and it's version 6 something.
I spoke to a friend who told me this is probably because the sound is in ac3 format. Is there an ac3 to stereo plug for wavelab/soundforge, or maybe a little program who does that instead?

Nah, I can't have them both playing using my Layla, or at least I don't know how to. I even tried to record using physical cables connected from the out to the in, but no luck as of yet

it works well on sf 5.0 and 5.1, as well as 6.0. sometimes the older version gives you more latitude. try that out.           "We Do Not Allways See Things As They Are. We See Things As We Are" -Ancient Chinese Proverb

i would connect my output of my sound card to my input while playin the movie and record it to soundforge. if it doesnt work try to use a different driver on sound forge (like the microsoft multimedia or such..)
