my question is that how is a track to b constructed in the right way ???

do u ppl first compose all of ur pieces and then sequence them as u have visualized ??

OR

do u ppl start off sequencing the track wid the basic kick and bassline and then add sounds and pieces later on as the track progresses as the feel of the track may demand ???

well, usually i start with bass and kick combination (but not always!), and then i'm adding percussion section and then main (or not) melody. then i leave that sequence and starting building the tune. if i got my main idea (the main melody or something) i know to which way i should go.
also one method of mine is to go without stopiing on the tune (stream with it), for like 2-3 minutes, then see what i got and to fix it up and stuff.

find your way mate           Without Deviation, Progress Is Not Possible.

hello to you too GTN!
I usually build kick, few bass lines and the groove (comming out the kontakt, battery).
then I start addin layer of pads, sfx, power lines.
I usually write alot of parts, verious of basslines and hihat+snare combinations.
after the tracks got some uniqe sound I start editing the track into linear story.
take your time to perfect the beat! the right drums at the right place will do more than alot of loops, snare etc all together in a mass.

Well it comes down to how YOU like to build your tracks....there is no defined way to build a track....
I for instance make a 2 minute sequence that is the most powerfull in my track starting with the bassdrum and bassline, afterwards adding percussion and then all the rest of the elements....
another important thing to do is to eq every channel so you have all the sounds seperated from each other.

like most people here (apparently), i usually being with the kick and bass.

then i tend to stack pretty much everything (synths/riffs/hats/percussion/etc) on top of each other in a huge 16 bar loop representing the fattest heaviest part of the track.

then i kinda stretch this loop out over 7 minutes by deciding what order all the parts should come in / go out / come in again

finally i go through and add fx, pads, and other details.

however i'm not madly fond of this method in some ways because it means i never have much patience or CPU free to do my fx and weird noises, so they tend to suffer, despite being very important in psytrance.

still, thats just an 'average', all tracks happen in a different way, sometimes its a pad or noise that gets me started...           http://www.dartrecordings.co.uk/

good way is..

1. Kick & Bassline

2. Ad some samples with some effects to get a feeling for the mix and the track overall. Do the first Lines (standart: Hihats, Snares, Percussion) for the first 2 minutes and engaging-theme.

3. After 3 minutes arranged you will have your
first part. If its not 100%ly tight and good, keep your eyes open for the details and the mix and the idea you have about it. spend much time with the details and the mix.

4. Create a second theme for the next 3-6 minutes including an nice break switching the first part away to reopen a second one.

5. Back to step 3.

6. As more time you spend with it as more it well get a character. The workflow comes later and is not really cachable in the first hour where you sit behind the sequence. Its also like dancing 3 hours where you get a feeling and creativity more and more. If this happens the track will grow automaticly. go go go

I always try different ways to build a track, so that all my songs will sound different.
One different way I use from the ones metioned is create random ideas here and there and then try to find ways to combine them. It's a bit harder to make it work, but it is less repetitive this way. It's like 10 songs rolled into one.

i strongly recomend to start the track first from the idea u have in mind , somtimes i'm finding myself humming all day a melody in my had , well the first thing i'll do when i sit on the computer will be to create it !
start building it from the sound that u like the most , create some lines in a question-answer bulid up , create the kind of rythem & groove that u like & when u feel u have enough of a story to start building , just do it !

there are some artist that like to finnish all of the structure & than add lines where they feel that somthing is missing there , i myself cant continue to build if every little thing is not in place , i get a little twists ... ask yoni ...

the most important advise i can give u is to pass the special mood you r in that specific day to the track ....
music is all about mood....           visit us on myspace.com/yotopia

so all u ppl are sayin iz that u first make a bass(kick +bassline) then u add the melody or whatever fx on top?! i was thinkin about it the other way around, i think first u should get the tune right and then put in the bass-as in tune with the melody or whatever! it will fit better dont u think

First of all, try to use an 8 bar structure. Shorter loops = more interesting music

To the point: the method you specified is ok for let's say fullon, cause it's driven from part to part.
But in genres such as progressive (structure-wise), imho, the best way to work is on a 2-pass technique.
First of all make the basic arrangement, from start to end, and then work on transitions, effects which make the whole thing a lot more appealing.
