oh yeah, and a friend and I are bringing up as much deco as they'll let us carry on without charging an overweight baggage fee. I'll probably carry on the string art hahaha

This party was awesome... Thanks to Nate and Felix for bringing me out to rock the midwest. I had a lot of fun dropping basslines on that huge soundsystem... Really nice crowd, about 800 or so from the looks of it. Crowd was REALLY into the music all night... |

indeed, very hypnotic stuff to start and then a bit more danceable towards the end... The UV taps he brought were fantastic as well. Especially the one behind the mainstage. Pics coming soon!

I'm sure it was a kickass party but now that it's over I just have to say that I found the name rather on the corny side

thanks to nate, anni, and everyone else involved with the rift for having me up. was great fun! that place was packed and going off! the lineup progressed super well, just flowed fantastically from machi to kelly to jeff and beyond.... i think the highlight of the night for me though was dropping my track, tasukete, and looking over and seeing kelly grooving out to it. lol. it made me smile.
a few pics are up on my myspace, but i look forward to seeing what others captured.

It was a warehose venue. You entered in through the 2nd area/third area which was a really interesting setup. There were two soundsytems in the center of the room facing out into the room. It worked suprisingly well, and the only bleed was on the side of the systems... The main area was down a few stairs and was an open warehouse room with tall ceilings. There was a pretty big stage everything was setup on and some massive sound. Video projectors with visuals on both sides of the stage. PYITE brought some tapestries out that were hung around the area. Laser in front of the djs at crowd level centered with stage. Vendors booths in the back of the main room with visual screen playing The Holy Mountain . Also, there was a back room you entered in through the 2nd and 3rd area. They were playing some really crazy chiptune and breakcore in there. Interesting stuff I had never heard before.
The psytrance sets I saw were all very good. When we arrived hardkornate was playing a mix of stuff and mixing it all together very well. Some bouncier full on, some a little darker, some cheesier with a bit of vocals, but all mashed up together quite well. The crowd was already dancing hard and it was only 10:00pm, a very good sign. After Nate, MAchi took the stage and played a really slamming set of driving progressive with hints of full on. Really great tracks all the way through and not one missed mix. Really a flawless set for the style. Anyone around looking for a perfect morning set should book this guy for sure! The crowd was screaming for Machi, really getting wild. PYITE then took the stage and started off with some pretty hypnotic stuff that was definitely a change of pace. The crowd really didn't skip a beat, just ate it up and danced harder. About midway through his set he transitioned into some more dancier dark stuff, by the time I went on he had the crowd really rocking. I played next and really had way too much fun with that soundsystem and crowd. Definitely the most zoned in and intense set I've played... Got it up to 160 and played some of the nastiest evil hymns to Cthulu that I could. They just kept dancing harder. Lovely crowd this one! After me, Mist was up. He certainly threw it down harder than any other time I have seen him as well. I really like the new productions he is working on. Hopefully we see some of those released soon. The crowd was still stomping hard when we caught the cab to the airport at 4:45, by this time it was 9 degrees outside. |
