Hey guys,
I'm thinking of getting one of these three soft synths:
Refx Nexus
NI Massive
NI FM8
Does anyone own any of these or has tried them out yet?
I really like Albino 3 & Vanguard so i'm looking to expand my arsenal, which one of these three would be the best bet?

nexus is a rom player so its depentable of the quality of its samples!
massive is one of the warmer soft synths i ever heard! great possibilities and lots of thingis to tweak!
fm8... if u liked fm7 u will love fm8 they done a superb job of simplifying fm synthesis and add a great arp!
what u get depents of what u need
from all i would get the demos and test them! but im not sure if there is a demo for the nexus yet!

Rompler is basically a sampler with a synth engine in the background. fx and whatnot.
the basic generation of sound is done by samples.
good example for a rompler:
korg wavestation

a good example of a rom player is spectrasonics atmosphere!
korg wavestation vector wave sequencing, by which short segments of sampled audio waveforms could be played one after the other and cross-faded into each other for some complex and unusual tones, pads, textures and rhythms.
not exactly the same principles as todays romlayers
with lots of giga of sampled sounds from hardware and software synths

Yeah great Synths!
Just keep in mind that massive is quite cpu-hungry...
Another favourite of mine, specially for weird pads:
cameleon 5000...
Happy tweaking to everybody... |

FM8 is brillant and easier than FM7, massive is phatt!!
i really dont care about nexus, i think is a "trance in a box" not to much to tweak thus not much to learn. |

Check also Dimension Pro from Cakewalk. It's a beast and it covers all sounds and styles.
A friend told me once that the biggest mistake we make is that we believe we live, when in reality we are sleeping in the waiting room of life. |
