Bangalore is already highly overdosed by psy. It wont be a surprise if Goa Gil becomes a resident DJ of a club in Bangalore...lmao

Kudos to the Mandala crew for pulling off something like this in India. As we all know, even a 24 outdoor gig is nearly unheard of , these days. So battling all the odds, it was indeed well planned. So hats off!

I had a really great time, met up with some friends after a long time and so nice to make new friends too! I really had expected a lot more turnout considering how much people were craving for something like this. But definitely its going to be quite a lot next year!

Musically, it was by far the best gathering ive been to in years. Pretty much super sets from everyone! Special mention here to Samadhi for that super amazing 4 hr liveset! to the main man Mubali for the crazy, crunchy and groovy night-time madness and by far one of the coolest people ive come across in my life! SpikemeMike for the super morning set and Mr Yidam with the bass heavy chillers. Pretty tight set from Twisted Jester and funkiness from Dogon.

Few things could improve frm this edition.. Definitely better decor, varied food, toilets. But clearly the crew has the potential to pull of a stunner next year. And i clearly cant wait for it, coz after all, its the motherland.... and we really deserve a festival!

Full support and all the best!

This was a very special one. Really haven't seen something run so smooth given what the organizers had to work with. A few with the force of many with the vibe of one.

Location was incredible... sun, sand, water, forests... couldn't ask for more. Got a feeling it was way beyond peoples expectations.

Music from the headliners was top-shelf psychedelia. Reminded why binging on Kingfisher strong is a baad idea...missed a lot of Mubali's set but woke up just in time for the finale. Walked onto a dusty floor, heavy bass groooves, crunchy effects and from that bit at the end...very hi-tech in the forst forest feel in his work.

Braindrop was probably the heaviest set of the festival, monster tracks from beginning to end, hardcore synth lines running over full and heavy kicks & low end, not one for the unprepared. Twisted Kala was a super showcase of the signature discovalley feel, with some classics thrown in for good measure.

Passed out again so missed Brain's set (beer relapse). Caught some of Psynyde's set earlier which was very impressive, really mature DJ journey coming from Orissa. Caught the end of Dogon's set too which was some nice selection of twilight sound, but realised I missed the best bit in the beginning when he was spinning Soumisound.

Got the chance to play at the second stage during afternoon #3 when the mainstage was down. Can't thank the organisers enough for the oppertunity, didn't come with a gameplan but the vibe was such that I could really play it out track by track, feeling the direction changing with each one. Haven't felt that in years, and got really warm responses for doing that. It's the best feeling in the world, so thank you all for renewing my love for the chillout experience.

Last day was an extra special treat, got onto the floor to Bloodclot. First time hearing him play, great mix of the tribal and heavy psychedelic sounds. Got the right amount of energy flowing onto the floor to gear up for Samadhi.

Samadhi! Not much that words can describe. Been a big fan of the Russian sound but never got to experience any of the greats. His set quenched that. Epic 4 hr + expedition...things got really moving when he moved into Parasense territory. Then out of nowwhere came some serious oldschool sounds nicely hidden under all the new-tech distortion. It felt like something that would happen if Astral Projection met Zolod. Come to think of it there were some AP tunes within Samadhi's set, once at night and then again with the more glitchy morning style after sunrise. Also ran around like a maniac when the redo of Spiritial Healing came on. The guy's got some massive tracks in his arsenal.

Passed out again after that, but I think I'd pissed off a people for sleeping so much so karma came in the form of one big baba who literally dragged me out of the tent and threw me unprepared onto the mainstage in the searing heat. Selected a few more chillers to break it down into pure ambience and back to silence.

Must note some other sets too, half heard from the tent but still got the legs shaking... Silence Project, really high quality full on. SpikeMeMike, classic oldshcool fullon sound of Goa... matched up perfectly after Samadhi. Orissa crew, can't remember all the names but a very diverse set of DJs coming out of the state.

So music aside, the deco was also very impressive. Great job by Damu, loved the crystals on the main floor and the minimal and clean work done with the string art.

Food, wish there was more of the local cuisine, but am sure the orgs realized that already, most of the glitches were noted down to be fixed. Hopefully we'll see more people come in to sustain a better infrastructure for the next one.

So all in all, Mandala was a dream come true. The organisers being not only hardworking kept unbelievably positive through thick and thin. They love their music, their home and the people, all the right reasons for being a festival organisers. This was one for music and nature... nothing else.

Everyone who was there, no need to name you here but you all really made it feel like a family coming together. Had given up on finding this here which made it all the more wonderful. Till we dance under the stars again

yea think I learnt my lesson there. lets see what next year brings

thanks for the support u guys, didn't get a chance to record this one (just about made it to stage fumbling with my cds) but am totally for recording a home mix of some of the tracks played out, haven't done one in a long time so it's overdue too. shall post when done

right now it's only the old mixes (2007 and before) on http://yidam.info/ & http://yidam.podomatic.com/

we're also working on a free compilation as http://chillumafia.com/ for the end of the year which includes some of that slow & bassy psychedelic dubstep that you might have heard in the middle.
