Try with the most simple ones first.
What you need to do is to lowcut the low frequencies before the reverb plugin.
Let the mid ones of the bassline to be noticeable - this way you won't intefere with the low band mix.

it depends on the artist and the desiered effect to be taken.
i oersonaly am not used to put reverb on my basslines couse i like it to be noticed and strong and on dancefloors you could hear the bassline playing like any other synth.
LISH made great tracks by using reverb on basslines

hmmm... usually i don't use any reverb on bass... but now i just might (width some bp/hp first, it think) i always thought it would kill the balance
yeah... darkpsy chorus in bass is good (like in a juno 106) but i've grown tired of it... |

Reverb on bass can sound really good, especially if it's just on the top frequencies (500Hz and up or so). This is really cool when you have the filter on the bass set to be velocity sensitive - the harder hits cause little 'voices' to drift off in the reverb.
Or better yet, take your bassline and do a send to several channels - on each channel EQ out all but a small frequency range, and put different effects on each channel.
Then as your bass 'squeaks' into upper frequency ranges it will get various effects and whatnot.
Granted this could get out of hand real fast, but it would be neat to then put a common reverb on all the FX channels so they sounded more like the same instrument.
errr, I would rather be in the studio than at work!! (if it isn't obvious)
reverb on bass - very nice effect! |

I also agree... A little reverb makes it sound warmer. |

Hi there, wanna use some reverb on bass? It really does sound good, however, it depends on the shape of you bass synth and what filters you apply on your reverb. For example, if you see infected mushroom's basses...some of them, they are saw shaped basses, and with a little reverb on them. The high frequencies of the saw really sound good with a metalized type reverb (small space, small difussion cuantity) Applying the right filters (cutting highs or lows) might add a little more originality of your own.
i hope it helped
i will soon post tutorial on reverbs on bass at
