Awe, I've grown quite fond of Ableton's reverb . I haven't really checked any others out since I'm still learning many other things.

hey, don't let my opinion change your mind!

Ambience by Magnus is a genuinely wonderful free reverb - it's quite processor intensive, but you can turn down the CPU quality knob while you're working then whack it up to 100% when you render!

massive and gladiator, but those are the only ones I can think of. But both have specific qualities for reverb and aren't as versatile as plugin reverbs.

interesting - i haven't heard Gladiator's verb...

Will 4-5 reverbs on different busses, ranging from tight to long, not cut it?

I'm still new to production, but from what I've done, I found that I like to make unique reverb settings for each channel. CPU load hasn't been an issue for me, I just created this thread for information that might help myself (or someone else) further down the line           http://soundcloud.com/ascensionsound

Fair enough. A lot of varying different reverb algorithms might make the parts sound incoherent in the mix. But whatever floats your boat innit.

if you ever should run out of cpu time - just bounce

... or use a hardware reverb/delay.          http://www.myspace.com/realtimeproject

+1

I like to bounce/record all the instruments when I have finished with song composition so I free up CPU for Reverb, EQ and Dynamics.

Thanks for the tip, I'll have to consider that more in my productions.

Also, what is this strange "hardware" people are talking about?           http://soundcloud.com/ascensionsound

have seen quite expensive 19" reverb units.

i often use the on-board reverb/delay of the virus.
(which has the advance to be able to bind their settings
to any other parameter within the modulation matrix ...)

but if you prefer to sample the sounds dry and add the FX later
... insert plug-ins are maybe more appropriate for the task.

DSP has the advance, that it saves CPU time,
since it's a special processor for such calculations.

i think UAD1 and UAD2 has such plug-ins DSP-based.          http://www.myspace.com/realtimeproject

I know some producers who eq before and after the reverb, so I guess that's something else to consider...           http://soundcloud.com/ascensionsound

yes, EQing reverb can really help sculpt a sound.

realtime, i also use the Virus reverb - it's very cold, very digital, but i love that... i think it sounds great. i also use Lexicon hardware for reverbs, it's absolutely mindblowingly beautiful... but quite different atmosphere.           http://www.myspace.com/aeonaeon
