Reverb after FB delay or parallel...?

Which do you use more often or like more, if you want spacy lead or pad sounds, routing signal-->FB-delay-->reverb, or two signals, one is FB-delay and another is reverb...?

I have done some experimentation and one thing is for sure, very long reverbs (20s) sound horrible if you put them after FB-delay, so that kind of reverb is surely better to have in parallel

Then if you want the short delay sound, you can put it after FB-delay. I never tried to use it parallerly so I don't know if it makes sense.

The most difficult is 3-10s reverbs, I have difficulties deciding which sounds better. I think I like the parallel reverb and dry FB-delay combination better. Sounds clearer. But still I hear a lot of presets where they are one after another.

What is your opinion? =D

It really depends on what you want to achieve.

If your settings are static (you aren't automating the plugins) then you can want to ave a repeating sound, fading away, inside a room (delay->reverb) or you can cave a sound in a room, where the whole room is fading away. If you make them parallel then you have two instruments doing exact the same thing, where one is in a room and another is fading away.

I believe reverbs and delays are so versatile effects, with so much you can do that this only depends on the effect you want, and nothing is "wrong": some things just sound better then others           Super Banana Sauce http://www.soundcloud.com/knocz

I always the delay before the reverb, so that the effect from the delay has some reverb on it as well. I don't like having reverb on the main sound and the having the delay completely dry, it sounds weird.

Peace out.

Can agree with D.H , Also always try work first from an/Into the vst himself , 99% of the cases will bring you an better results then doing that in the 'Outside' tools of the daw later , Other thing try use more compressors .. When you work right - Right Eq Vs Right compressor Vs Right vol and levels So you get an natural bonus already on your sound And/So will bring this kind of feeling of this 'Open sound' Touch (Reverb) you want get from beginning (But without specific use the reverb function) .

True that, but I like wierd that has been "worked on" and is intentionally the way it is. I generally don't like completely dry sounds. I like going from a big reverb to a small reverb for the delay line, but leaving it dry makes it sound like the person who was making the track, could not be bothered to address issues like this one.

Peace out.
