hi guys.

any of you use Steinberg Retrologue to create full on bassline?
it seem so odd to get something decent out of it. With a single instance of VB-1 I can get a better bass than with Retrologue.

What is missing in Retrologue which make it so useless for full on bass.
any direction would be welcome.

I cannot sample with retrologue though. It's a subtractive synth without possibility of psy bassline. unusual.

You can sample anything.
You have to create audio track and record notes that you want to use. Throw them to the sampler and it's done

Hmm I never used it, but it seems to have all that's needed

An oscillator with saw / square waveforms, a LP filter with an envelope, a bit of distortion (filter), and an amplifier with it's own envelope - what more do you need?

The only impediments I can imagine are:
- lame osc waves, but I expect a bit of quality from Steinberg
- not-so-tight envelopes.. without trying, I cannot comment.

But having a quick listen on some youtube demos of the product (7bwNgElc5cw for instance), it seems more than capable

Usually it's not the tool that matters, but what you do with it (just dare the great fellows here on IsraTrance to make a bass with something, I bet they'll find a creative way of achieving it)
Care to post some examples of your attempts and screenshots of the VST setup with the examples, so we could help you out?

Is anyone able to prove me wrong?
I am sure there people using Cubase and have Retrologue on their arsenal.

I will keep trying and will try to post here.

Thank you all

Still pretty bad.
I don't want sample it I would like to able to get the full sounds out of it. I thought I would get sounds like the one in Sylenth1, Massive and even VB-1.

Thank you anyway for all posts and also the video.

appreciate.

Ive only used retrologue for main leads and pads, but they are pretty fat and very analogue sounding so you should be able to get something half decent.           https://soundcloud.com/pro-gram-0
