is it possible? in a sampler in midi for example, you can decide that you dont like the kick you used for the whole track and simply replace the sample with another.

can this be done in an audio track?           "On the other hand, you have different fingers."

ps. the question stems from my utter lazyness of replacing a certain kick for the whole track           "On the other hand, you have different fingers."

I´ve been told that if u replace the original kick at the audio folder, u can make it...

For example... The kick u used is called "Kick1". If u import an save the file at audio folder, the "kick1" will be there. Now u want to use "kick2"... Rename this to "kick1" and overwrite the existing file at audio folder...

I never tried this... I tend to change all my kicks if I want to do this!           LOADING...

Hi Surrender,

I never heard about a Cubase function like "replace event on audio track" or something similar. But there's a simple and effective way to do that:

Import the new kick in a audio track and double-click to open it in Sample editor. With sample editor opened, select everything (press CTRL+A or menu Edit->Select All) and CTRL+C to copy the whole thing. Open the old audio track in Sample editor, select everything and press CTRL+V to paste the new sample over the old one.

This method works fine if you use Shared copy. But in case you do not use it or if your project have the same sample as a Shared Copy and Real Copy, then go to Pool Window and replace (with the above method) every ocurrency of the old audio sample.

Hope this help you,

Alex

well im looking for the same solution myself..
it happens to me in every track i make.
after alot of the track is done i always want to change my kick and test it with other kicks
and its frustrating deleting all the kicks and put the new kicks from the first to the last
and doing it more the once is even more frustrating           http://www.o-zen.com/art/ranal

Remember Cubase process audio in a non-destructive way. Changes made in audio events are saved in audio clips rather then the actual audio files (you can see that in Edits folder under project directory). Replacing audio files cannot work when some audio process was applied. The same if the project use Shared Copies (audio clips are generated in Edits folder).

In case the project do not use shared copies and no audio process was applied, at least replacing audio files do not cause Cubase to redimension the size of the corresponding audio events in the project.

And finally, if original files size differs from new file, I think some new problems can occur.

ff topic:

Is there any way to make the shared copies coloured??? I mean... Copied is white, Shared is grey... Like the loop on Logic...

Cause only italic font is not a good way to recognize the event imo...           LOADING...

it doesnt solve this problem,
but if he had done this ahead of time,
there would be no problem!

he could replace the audio inside the first sample and then they will all change.
