Hey!
I hv this lead with some automation that sometimes makes the sound go on too low frequencies and then the sound get too low and loud , if u know what i mean.. I guess this happen when i modulate the cutoff too low..I dont want to change the lead's automation, so i would like to know wich frequencies should i remove to get hid of this proplem. Should i use a filter? Wich mode? low pass? high pass? band pass?
Help me with this one please
Thanks a lot, see u around

i wouldn't use a filter, but an EQ, how low u cut u have to see for urself, depends on ur bass and the other sounds in ur song. Trust ur ears!!

a filter isn't going to make your frequencies louder, its going to cut out some of the others
try cutting off some low from the mixer before you use an eq           Work like you don't need the money.

might want to try a multi-band compressor on that after your EQ. Waves C4 comes to mind.

Another option is to adjust the filter envelope amount or the keytracking on the filter. If I am not mistaken if you move one of those two things it will affect the amount that the cutoff filter ranges in between.           An Eagle may soar, but Weasels don't get sucked into jet engines.

There are a few ways to handle this - depending on your, filter type and filter cutoff and resonance settings. Using the EQ to solve a problem like this is an unelegant solution, the filters in softsynths tend to color the sound, and tend to be fatter than most EQ plugins.

First, if you don't want any bass at all, you should work with a highpass or bandpass - and keep raising the cutoff until your sound is without the frequencies you want. You could also use a bandreject filter on dominant bass frequencies - (extra tip: you can set the filter to change frequency according to the note in z3ta+ VSTi, if you want to make sure that the lows are taken out in each note).

Suppose this is too extreme, or you want to use a lowpass filter - then you can play with the resonance. That way, the dominant frequencies will be at the cutoff frequency more than in the lows.

You can then apply an EQ and lower the 30-250Hz frequencies as wanted - just remember that you may as well lower all frequencies lower by the same amount, just so the midrange notes will not sound too much louder than the low ones.

Basically, once you do all this and it sounds the best you think it can with everything playing, you can tweak the EQ on the mids/highs a bit, set the correct volume (or apply a compressor, noise gate, whatever). Voila. It should now fit perfectly with your mix.
As long as the cutoff frequency (envelope and all other additions included) is above 300Hz, then you'll get the lows attenuated (and the highs, in case you want the cutoff to reach the high frequencies - resonance at high frequencies tends to be annoying to the ear).

The ideal would be doing as much of the tweaking inside the softsynth for adding more character to the sound. Hope I helped.          http://www.myspace.com/Hooloovoo222
