Hello! I have noticed four different types of remixes.

1. One is where many of the sound from the original track are kept, but usually the bassline is changed, and also the way the track is built up. Sometimes there are some new sounds added too. These remixes seem to be most common in psytrance. Examples:

• Morphem - Ambrosia (Son Kite Remix)
• 1200 Mics - LSD (Talamasca Remix)
• Ticon - We are the Mammoth Hunters (MOS Remix)

2. Then there are remixes that don't have any of the original sounds, but have the same melodies that are in the original track. In these remixes you can recognize the original track, and at the same time recognize the sounds of the remixer. I guess these types of remixes are not so common in psytrance, except old Goa, because the track has to have many melodies and such. Examples:

• Faithless - God is a DJ (Astral Projection Remix)
• Three Drives - Greece 2000 (MWNN Remix)
• Shakta - Lepton Head (Deedrah Remix)

3. Then there are remixes which has nothing to do with the original track, and you don't even understand what the two tracks has to do with each other. Well, almost. Examples:

• Cosma - Out of Range (Son Kite Remix)
• Morphem - Ambrosia (Midi Miliz Remix)

4. Then there are remixes which sounds exactly the same as the original and you don't get the point with the remix. Again, almost. Examples:

• Deedrah - Reload (GMS Remix)
• Alien Project - Midnight Sun (GMS Remix)

Do you agree that these are the main types of remixes? Then there are crossovers too I guess, which contain a bit of each. I must say I like nr2 best, though nr1 can be good too.

Where did I get this from? Don't know, but it would be nice to hear your thoughts...           Ut ameris, amabilis esto.

there is no difference between 4 and 1. and there is a point for those remixes, which are quite nice actually. more dancefloor demolition versions for those tracks.
anyhow as far as i see it
1 and 4 are remix - take sounds
2 is cover - compose the melodie again yourself
3 is remake - take the atmosphere and feeling of the track with your style.

they all could be nice. but one thing i hate is when you just pick part from the track and put it in yours.
like the atomic pulse remix to people can fly. it is just another ordinary full on track, when the 50 sec of the original melodie break by astral projecytion comes in, and at the end of the break it goes back to atomic pulse full on.           REHAB is for quitters

The MWNN Remix to 3 Drivers On Vinyl can be found in Teleportation, MWNN's Remixes and Rarities collection.
As for God Is A DJ Remix it was relesead on Psychedelic Vibes 6.
Both very good remixes. Especially the first.
I personally think that Remixing is art itself. In Psytrance it's not as developed as in House or Techno but there are some good remixes around.
The Hallucinogen in Dub by Ott is great example how to do a very good remix work.

I think I'll vote for the category no.3, maybe the main reason for that is the pi-Wolands remix of Reefer track "curved air".
It has the groove of original, its totaly different then the original and its better then the original

great goblim,
that's the kinds of remixes i always seperated.
i don't like 4, mostly used by GMS and all the Full-On artists, it's pointless.
the one i like is 2nd, other artist takes the whole story and remakes it as he saw it by his own eyes. in a result we got different tune, with his sounds and it can be even better then the original.
