My father made theater music, and when I was around three years old he brought home what I think must have been a Yamaha CS-80 for one project.
It's one of my earliest memories playing with the ribbon controller on that enormous synth.
Later he bought a Sequential Circuits Six-trac, Pro-one with SQ-1 sequencer and an Ensoniq Mirage sampler, and since he only used them occasionally when the work required I got to have the studio in my room and could use them most of the time.
When I was nine I got my first ever pay check from working in the theatre and I bought the pro-one of my father.

Nord lead 2, My Girl too
but she's more than just an midi controller,
that bitch is still spitting fresh sounds till this day, process it more with some plugins just like u would with ya vst's thats all she can go really hi and i prefer her over any vst for hi pitch sounds, also the nord lead has got to have the world's best pitch bend guaranteed
u slap it and it modulates the pitch depending on how hard, it rings unlike other pitch bends that i haved used the most annoying pitch bend being the hartmann neuron due to the joystick u can easily fuck up and modulate a lil when bending when not intending. I belive the clavia guys have it pantent. |

My first was a Waldorf Pulse, which is a fuck to programme, but nice to get an insight to subtractive synthesis, cause its really limited...still having..but rarely using |

Unfortunately it was only rented in by the theatre
It's now some 30 years ago and I cannot remember much more than that it was very big, had a lot of faders and a long ribbon controller.

Pom u still have the korg prophecy? what's your opinion on that sucker, I know depeche mode used it alot.
The pulse was my first analog hehe my moms got it for me for christmas, since before that all i had was digital boards remember this was back around 2000 vst's weren't that good then.
I still use the pulse here and there it's got an real cool bass sound great for hard techno and electro. The matrix is a bitch yeh but its quite easy to get use to, the evolver's matrix was a bit more hectik in my opinion.
Out of topic - Has anyone own an midi guitar, and feedback would be greatly appreciated i been interested in getting one. wonder if it be worth it to come up with different riffs that i wouldn't come up with on the piano.
Cheers.
ps. cool to see everyones first synth, Im sure that moment is unforgetable, when i die bury me with my board haha. |
