Hi, I have (like many ppl here) a dream of getting a track released on some kind of psytrance VA cd. I am currently working on a track that I will try to get released. I'm not planing to charge anything else then a copy af the cd for the track. Who should i contact about this, I guess that if I send it to big record companies it will end up in the trash, so it probably has to be more undergroun'ish.
I will post a sample of the track here later this week.
Btw it's a fullon track. |

My tip is if you want to get a release to establish a connection with the label people before you start sending tracks...
Find the label managers that are releasing the stuff in your style...(be honest with yourself!). Add them to myspace and MSN
Find upcoming/new artists who are writing similar styles to you and see who they have in their myspace friends list...
Establish a friendly relationship with the label managers of the style you are writing... tell them you really like their style and that you write tunes and one day maybe would like to get released on their label...
they will go "hehehe sure...cool." Don't send any music yet.
When you have a good friendly situation..then start laying the tracks on them... just send them and ask them their opinions... let it go from there.
They are more likely to release your track if they already know who you are etc...
Also sometimes it is easier to write specifically for a label rather than hope a label will go for your sound... so that's why talking to the compilers and listening to the sound that they are into will help you mould your own sound into what they are looking for. You don't have to compromise your own style..but you just have to know what little things to do to make it appeal to the compiler.

I have another question: some label want to release my tracks but its general-electronic music label (not general psy-trance) and I don't know is it a good idea for releasing my tracks there.
What with promotion and get to proper receiver/listener?
Its not better way to waiting some time and (maybe) releasing a psy-trance in psy-trance label?

If it's a digital label then i suggest you do it, as you'll still be the owner of your tracks(exclusivity and digital download contracts don't go together). And if that's the case you just refuse. If you don't have any other deals with any other label of any kind it would be good to go for it as it will give you official "existence" in the digital music world, something that you can further use to promote yourself regarding other labels, gigs etc.
I'd say don't expect much regarding promotion and this kind of stuff. From my experience most digital labels are either incapable of doing it the right way(if there's a right way at all) or it's extremely difficult to do it because of the increased number of digital labels and solo artists that pop up every day and sign with all mp3 download portals.
How can really anyone dig anyone up when he's "buried" among millions of other producers, artists, musicians etc. no matter the style anyway?
IMO, the only way that an electronic music artist can get some kind of attention that maybe will be helpful in some extent in his further career would only be a physical release of any kind with the appropriate promotion-marketing from the label.

Alien Bug, personally i don't see any reason to be upset really. On the contrary, if it was me i would be happy of the fact that a label that doesn't release the style i'm producing still wants to release my music. This could mean that either they really liked my stuff or they liked my stuff enough to consider releasing my style as well, with me being the first artist of this style. In any case, i see it only as positive for you, having also in mind that psy-trance is not that popular as other electronic styles.
Otherwise, what Mesq mentioned above would be the way to go.

Thanx for alle the answers, I guess I explain my self good enough in the original queestion. My music is NOT release material in the normal way. Thats why I wantet to know about more underground'ish compilations. I am not a pro. Actually im kind of noob. Anyways I'll post a sample in a moment. |

Definite potential! That mix isn't very bad at all. Dig the bass-line. |

Actually the mix is quite good. Considering that psy-trance is not at all one of my favorite styles, i have to say that this one i liked it a lot and it definitely has a future
