i dunno about dark psy dying, but I gotta say I never saw any subgenre of this scene have as many acts smiling, dancing and having a good time with the crowd form the stage vibes wise as dark psy producers & dj's.

i mean look at the big grins Mr Mubali's face

I think they are mostly trance hybrids of other forms of popular EDM, I mean the riffs mostly used in full on is laughable. And Reggae = prog!? Seriously? Do most the producers of prog look remotely rasta? gotta be joking mans.

Firstly - this topic is silly. Why do you have to equate one musical form with another? Why can't it just be....itself???

I mean, certainly some musical genres are influenced by others but doing a simplistic x = y is overly simplified and...just wrong.

Odd, I've never seen any subgenre that has as few people dancing and smiling also some producers give off angry/anxious/aggressive energy...also seen quite a few who seem genuinely uninterested. Not that this doesn't happen to other genres of music too, and I'm aware that I might have a bias in this regard but I feel that the aforementioned attitudes are more prevalent in darkpsy.

Sometimes I feel like Darkpsy producers/DJs would be more at home in a death metal/angsty 'bitch-about-my-life' music venue...

but anyways, generalizations are just that...mostly worthless

but yeah, Mubali is awesome - great guy, funky fun energy and gets the dancefloor moving! I don't consider his music dark at all.

I find a lot of ambient/chill much more reggae-ish than progressive.
