nice post man, the other day I was wondering about the relation between light and sound frequencies and now I come across this. =)

The lowest frequency of light that a human can see is 4×10^14 Hz (the color red), which is far beyond the limits of human hearing :S Would be cool to make music with light and colors though           - Making Denmark a nastier place since 1974

But sound has more depth than plain visual texture for sure, even if the frequency range is lower. Vibrato, tension, intensity that stuff

I'm not saying sound is bad because the freq is lower. I'm just saying light freqs are too high for ppl to hear           - Making Denmark a nastier place since 1974

Oh, on a sidenote. light can be highly dynamic. That's why the optic compressors are so nice and expensive/expressive They work with light inside           - Making Denmark a nastier place since 1974

Yup, here's two opto-compressors
http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p230/nectarios/rack1.jpg?t=1311850393

The downside is that they are not fast enough for certain material. Sounding very musical tho and they don't give that nasty sounding distortion on very short release times on bass heavy material...probably have a hold circuit in the design...
The new Opto compressor in Logic retains a lot of that character.

Anyhow back on topic...
I've made a few track with a fundamental of F# which is apparently an overtone of Mars' resonant frequency...dunno if its true, but I like the placebo effeect I get

Peace out.

Next thing there are light reverb chambers and light chorus moduls...           From all the things I lost, that sandwitch cost me most :)

Hehe, i cant' see why light in a reverb or a delay-based effect should benefit the sound but the idea is cute

And now, i'm gonna have a coke... light, ofcourse           - Making Denmark a nastier place since 1974

well, right on one side, on the other hearing is not something you do, hearing is a filtering of frequency content. what you do that moment something coming in there is PERCEIVE!!

at the end there is no hearing, feeling, tasting etc. its just all frequency content we are surrounded by each second we breath. so basically sound and light is the same.

the filter is to allow you to experience the content in many ways, nothing else. without an ear you wont see any difference...

you sure can make colour hearable in a mthematical way. if you gonna perceive the right colour is up to you and your transmitter/receiver.....
