Reinstalling windows CD player

I've encountered a weird prob lately: My comp seemd to be unable playing CDs again. Although I don't think the problem lays in the prog itself, I'd still like to know how can I reinstall the windows CD player (not media player, the older versions don't play CDs, and the newer versions behaves similarly).

You might try to check the "Enable Digital Playback" on the properties of your CD player.
Might help...
I don't know if you can uninstall your Windows CD Player.

Maybe the cable that connects the drive to the soundcard is loose?
Either tighten the cable, or turn on digital playback.
