Hi folx!
just having problems with my projects, i currently have 3Gb of RAM, and pretty much every new track i make requires more and more ram usage(cant go for 4gb or more for the moment). so right now i have this project that i really wanna work into, but seriously i cant take it any longer by working on it as it is now(i cant even hear a thing, its to difficult to work properly.
The track is almost 5 minutes long (i wanna reach the 7 or so) so i have thought and wanted to know. IF i could keep wokring on this track in a second NEW project file, by bouncing stuff and so, for example..in the new 2nd project file..ill do the 2 minutes that i have left to complete the track.
then i suppose of bouncing the 2 projects: - the first 5 minutes and the other 2 minutes. as wav (24 bit)..then im thinking of gluing them properly together as the final track. then ill make the mp3 and the WAV ... NOW .. by doing this there is a possibility of losing quality or so on the final wav and/or mp3???
thanks for ur time for reading this stupid question lol. thanks in advance!
And in other aspects..what are the best Settings on the software that can make the working and producing more smooth and such by consuming less RAM ?

What's your OS ?
Are you using FL in "extended memory" mode ?

being a FL-user also,
it sounds like a cpu overload and not a ram problem.
vst/vsti's hang on cpu
long wavs go in RAM.

Sorry, i meant which operating system.
Taken from the FL help:
Increasing FL Studio working memory allocation - There is an 'FL (extended memory).exe' file in the FL Studio installation directory. Using this to start FL Studio after making the following changes to your Windows operating system will give FL Studio access to 3 GB or 4 GB (up from 2 GB) depending on your OS:
* Windows XP 32 bit - Use the 3 GB switch in XP to access 3 GB of RAM.
+ 1. WARNING: Don't attempt the following unless you are confident working with Windows system files. Edit the Boot.ini file. The Boot.ini is an essential system file so we strongly recommend saving a copy of the 'Boot.ini' file as 'Original-Boot.ini' prior to mucking about with it. Add a '/3GB' switch command to the end of the boot-script in the 'Boot.ini' file and save.
+ 2. Restart the computer.
+ 3. Make a Windows Desktop shortcut to the extended memory FL Studio executable '..\Program Files\Image-Line\FL Studio\FL (extended memory).exe' and use that to start FL Studio in future.
* Windows Vista 32 bit - Use the 3 GB switch in Vista to access 3 GB of RAM.
o Enable the 3 GB switch:
+ 1. From Windows Start browse to Programs > Accessories and right-click the Command Prompt file. Click 'Run as Administrator'.
+ 2. In the Command prompt window, type bcdedit /set IncreaseUserVa 3072 and press enter on your keyboard. Allow the change to be made when security windows appear.
+ 3. Restart the computer.
+ 4. Make a Windows Desktop shortcut to the extended memory FL Studio executable '..\Program Files\Image-Line\FL Studio\FL (extended memory).exe' and use that to start FL Studio in future.
o Disable the 3 GB switch:
+ 1. From Windows Start browse to Programs > Accessories and right-click the Command Prompt file. Click 'Run as Administrator'.
+ 2. In the Command prompt window, enter bcdedit /deletevalue IncreaseUserVa and press enter on your keyboard. Allow the change to be made when security windows appear.
+ 3. Restart the computer.
+ 4. Remember to use the original FL Studio executable '..\Program Files\Image-Line\FL Studio\FL.exe' in future.
* Vista & Windows 7, 64bit: FL Studio will automatically have access to 4 GB of RAM when the '..\Program Files (x86)\Image-Line\FL Studio\FL (extended memory).exe' is used to start FL Studio.
+ 1. Make a Windows Desktop shortcut to the extended memory FL Studio executable '..\Program Files (x86)\Image-Line\FL Studio\FL (extended memory).exe' and use that to start FL Studio in future.

koozer bounce everythin to audio and then work on the project.... the load on ur pc will be comparitively lower rather dan workin with vsts directly into a project file....
and by gluing them by the way you said and den bouncing dem you will not lose quality!!!
also have u tried to switching to ASIO driver rather dan the primary sound driver?? tht can help ur performance a bit!!!
turn the safe overload switch off!!
Disable inactive plugins.
If your Buffer length setting is greater than 50 ms and your CPU usage meter peaks over 80%, it may be simply be your computer is not fast enough to play the project. Welcome to the never ending cycle of PC upgrades!
just a few that i noe off and also you can refer to the help manual in fl studio....
cheers!!

If you REALLY can't bounce anything anymore and you're using every vst, try switching from wav to mp3 for long audioclips. Just endure the small quality loss while producing, finish your track, open all wavs again.
To prevent all this from happening: organise all your instruments into your audiotracks (playlist) and bounce into (song length) long wavs. Open your project (wavs) in Ableton or Cubase and finish & mix it there. (That's what I do)
