Jirah is still a nice reference point for fullon,(listen to "The perfect place" and "Optimator") and its made 2003
For weird Scandinavian forest psy i think Derango and Trold(maybe not always that weird) are nice...
Progressive would be Son Kite and also some Greek and danish artists
I think back some years when loudness wasn't the biggest factor the tracks sounded way smoother... nowdays its so loud and square... Its hard to not follow the trend. but well worth not to do... still it often happens that i boost the shit out of my stuff, hehe

yes tigher cause everytime you use a eq the frequencies are delayed , some say it s not noticeable but with kick and bassline juste a 1 ms delayed and the sound is less tight , i m not sure if it s true but i have read a hp filter with a 12db/octave at 50 Hz produce a phase shift introducing already few ms of delay at that frequencie ( if the timing of the bassline is good with the kick without any hp filter, then turning it on just on the bassline you can cleary hear that delay)with these delayed frequencies you get a less tight sound cause not all the freqs are delayed by the same time (you can a/b with a linear phase eq ona bassline for example to hear more easily what i m talking about , on those all the freqs are delayed by the same amount but they have other artifacts)

Shit, i'm listening to this 'VA-Temple of one' CD now.. Absolutely incredible work. there is no comparison to my stuff. -it is out of this world good..
it is even depressing to think that music is being created on this level of excellence. i can not compete on this level.

You're missing the point.
The fact that there is stuff that sounds this good (haven't heard the CD in question, but I have my own references of "other wordly" productions), should not make you depressed about being unable to "compete".
Music is not a competition.
When I hear stuff that pisses over mine (and no matter what I do, there will always be stuff that pisses over mine), I am happy I found out that there are a lot more paths for me to explore in my musical journeys.
Whats the beauty of doing something that challenges your mind, if you have reached your peak and there are no more challenges left?

i fully agree Disco, it is not a competition, but holy mother, i'm not even close to achieving this excellence.. It is excactly what i expected from 2009 psytrance production. this music that pisses on our stuff is an inspiration, yes. but
These artists put a lot of hard work into there production, (I KNOW from experience). I actually feel guilty that i did not pay to listen. they deserve every penny.
I want to make my efforts more than a hobby and reach an audience and make some money. it just sound like i'm so far behind in skill to compete to get labeled, like you (see you have blue name).
i put lots of effort in, believe me, and where there is a market, there is competition.

I don't expect to many any money from trance tunes, not money that will pay the bills anyway, so I don't feel there is a market, nor a competition. I'm just some guy who enjoys putting a kick on every beat and approx 3 notes of bass in between. As long as you enjoy doing that too, I am not anymore special than you are simply because I have a blue username on an internet forum.

well i hope psytrance gets more recognition in the future and that there is a lucrative market for it.
It is hard work to make beautiful psytrance music. and i believe psytrance is the future..see you there
