Reefer Decree kick

Iboga Records: Reefer Decree has a kick with a unique sound, it sound hollow like a loud ping pong ball .I tried to recreate this kick by using a notch filter eq and compression but did not get the same result do u know how he makes it??

Ur idea is right.
Hardcore compressing and cutting frequencies with a eq. Try around u will get it fast. I think around 250-300 will make it hollow.

also could u xplaine hard compretion such as attack and ratio setings i meen do u shape the sound or just use the compresor as an efect (pumping)

You can also try to layer a (gated) low frequency sinewave with your kick. If you do this and keep your kick short, you can get nice subs and an open sound at the same time. I'm not sure if this is what Reefer Decree do, but it can get you close to their sound. |
