Hi- running Reason 2.5 rewired with Nuendo. Currently theres NO mixer between my redrum module and the hardware interface (rewire channels) to Nuendo. My problem is that its just way softer than my VST's and the reason synths. Hardly lights the meter in Nuendo mixer??? Any suggestions...
Tnx

That kind of defeats the point to using Rewire doesnt it?
Then I lose the mixing ability of Nuendo?
Is there some kind of amp on the Reason mixer?
Ill try thou........

Hi there,
i finished yesterday the mix of a track using reason rewired to nuendo. i connected the redrum directly to the channels output and some of the sounds sounded too low.
you have 2 choices: use a reason compressor just after the redrum for each channel (don´t lose yourself inside the cable net ) or use a compressor in nuendo (waves L-series or other) to bring the volume up.. if you get some noise, put and X-noise plugin after that, it's great.
have fun!

This sounds like a bad advice and asking for more trouble. You'll use cpu hungry X-Noise to silence noise that isn't supposed to be there in the first place ?, and compressor doesn't come in place of simple gain issue fix.
bLv, check your volume on each drum sound, check the note velocity and check the redrum overall volume like GTN said.
If all this doesn't help use the gain control on the nuendo channel.

Indeed, Hayez. Also, the Waves L Series are not compressors but limiters! Don't use these for simple gain and/or compression jobs.

Ive checked all my volumes and everything is 100%. I cant use my Nuendo channel fader since even if its all the way up, the redrum volume is still too low compared to my other sound modules & cant even be heard in the mix ???

what ?? u dont know where rewire fader is ?
ok lissen , in nuendo / sx , rewire faders are yellow colors .. so its very simple ....
lets say , u have redrum going into hardware interface channel 1 in reason ... in sx , devices --> reason , enable channel 1 ... it will show up immediately in the sx mixer .. there then give , input gain on the fader ...
if u still dont get it ... lemme know ... ill post screenshots then !
good luck ! |

wen u auto connect an instument to the reason mixer for some strange reason (pardon the pun) u get a 6dB cut in level, this can b sorted by wiring each stereo instrument to seperate channels on mixer, should give u a bit more welly.
hope this helps;) |

well blv , i actually loaded reason 2.5 on my computer yesterday ... and rewired it to nuendo 2.2 and experiecned the same as u do...
when redrum outs go directly into hardware outs 1,2
and open up in nuendo , no / very little sounds @ all ..so then i created 14:2 mixer , took redrum outs into mixer and then into hardware interface and it works amazingly kool ....
and btw , for your kind information ... you dont need to necessarily have a 2 channel drum submix directly going into hardware interface 1, 2 .....u can have all 10 individual redrum outs into the mixer and then 10 h/w channels for complete control on the drum sound ....
contact me , if u still arent clear !
