I'm listening to the radio through winamp and I've got cool edit pro open to steal some samples. When I hit record, nothing records.
I've tried messing with the Audiophile mixer, winamp's output (waveout or directsound) and the device settings in cool edit, no combination seems to let me record internally.
HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

Man u have dual core procesor and audiophile 2496 and u cant record radio? thats what happens when u are showing off I recorded online goa radio long ago with my old comp and it worked normaly.. Just be sure to choose stereo out for recording, not line in nor mic but channel which is playing music(in most cases stereo out or somethin) and it should work with directsound.. But I think u have one option in winamp which enables u to write directly on the disk, try that too.. But wait for other opinions since I used winamp long ago and quit using it after I lost my 500 3D skins collection

That option doesn't exisit, seriously.. I've tried everything.
Not just winamp, but this problem applies to (for example) YouTube or Google Video, say there was something I wanted to record - not possible. |

Well I know for sure that u cant record video from youtube and google but u I think u should be able to record audio.. There is an option in winamp that writes a file that u play on to a hard disk but I think that wont work with with radio.. Well maybe someone has better option I hope.. If u can record sounds from DVD movie you can from online radio too.. Hm, no, I just remembered how I recorded that radio set but I think it will be no use to u but anyway I will explain it.. Yes, I had same problem like yours years ago and I found that really good goa radio I wanted to record but not to pick samples, only for listening.. And to download that set on radio would took a lot of time since I was using 56k modem.. So what I did is real time recording on my tape recorder.. Simply I connected my stereo out cable to a mic in input on my tape recorder and woila, there is the secret.. But I had a lot of troubles with connectors and I haved to repair them cause I was looseing contact all the time so after all I got the mix but on some place it was horrible altough I recorded some good stuff and after a years I ran on that same songs in mp3 and boy was I glad.. Nowdays u got whole bunch of mp3 recorders and stuff like that, even hi-fi systems that record directly to CD so it shouldnt be a problem to record that in digital format, and the sound will be a lot better than on tape.. sum: connect audio out on audiophile to mic in on mp3 usb recorder or minidisc or anything and after u record simply transfer it back on the computer..
And for recording a video on youtube u can use web camera and record your screen, it will be low quality nut u will still record it.. anything can be done, just improvize..

wow ehehe, man. u just have to tweeeaaakkkk!!!
i have the same card and yesterday i've recorded more than 500mgb of small samples from a lot dvd movies i was watching. recorded on 24bit, no problem. I've just opened my logic, make this settings on the audio channel, input 5-6 (dont know why was the only input that got the internal audio signal, if i choose 1-2 it makes an eternal echo feedback..) and output 3-4 or 1-2. I've applied some fx on the channle, a lil x-noise (ejeje sure, pirated dvds.. ) and a lil limiter (in this case the L2 from waves) and thats it!!!! the same will be with winamp, movieplayer, winplayer, etcplayer. u need a sequencer like logic audio, fruity loops, cubase whatever. If u dont have, soundforge or wavewabs can do u GREAT WORK also!
If u apply the silverspike's Tapeit over the audiochannel u'll ve able to record even on 32bits!! But who need it.. from a decoded i-net radio or pirated dvds ehehehehehehe
good day
