so I was doing a bit of research on sweetwater.com and from what i could find, there was little available in your price range... The least expensive solution would be to use a friend's computer in the meantime, but digital recording units are not cheap. The only thing I saw that might help is a minidisk recorder...

but other than that, it looks pretty grim. Recording devices usually are never cheap, that's why we usually record with the computer and external audio interface.

Also, if you're gonna convert to mp3, you're gonna need your computer to do that, so it might be less of a pain in the ass to just wait 6 weeks and start putting together a monster set to record.           An Eagle may soar, but Weasels don't get sucked into jet engines.

Imho, i think you could go for a M-audio soundcard. Very reasonable price and pretty decent quality as well for recording.
My cent.
