Recording soundcard output?

I just got an ESI Maya 44 soundcard after using my normal onboard Realtek AC'97 for years. One thing I'm having trouble doing with the Maya, that wasn't a problem with the onboard, is the ability to record my soundcard output.

Before I could just goto my Volume Control, go to the Recording devices page and select Stereo Mix as the input. The only Recording device I have in the (Windows) Volume Control is for the Microphone input.

Would I need to use a lead going from my soundcard Out to its In, in order to record output? (I like recording samples off DVDs, Youtube, etc by using this method. and it'll be sorely missed.)

u have to use ur onboard card for that again.

i dont recomend u to connect ur output to ur input this will cause a feedback loop.           http://www.landmark-recordings.com/

dont know about the maya, but if you got a software with it with routing capabilities for the inputs, it should be no problem

with my emu card it works like this:
I just did a send on the Wave L/R channel (output) again to Wave L/R

hope that helped a bit           https://soundcloud.com/hazak

Hmmm, I'm not exactly sure how to do that...I use Adobe Audition for recording samples.

How do I select my onboard card again for recording, it's no longer an option as Mixer Device in the Volume Control.

Problem solved: I needed to use the DirectWire interface to route my MME out to its in. Thanks for the help, anyway.
