recording problem with ableton

can some one help me up , with how to record a track compo on ableton, im working on a new track , but its the first time i work with ableton,i realy like it but i cant record, i dnt know neither if its from my laptop cause i just got i new one two,, but its all tha fact that i dnt know how to fix my ableton to begin rcordin,,, when i press tha recordin botton , nothin happen , and when i go to see in tha file i find like a lot of wave file with like 120kb(6second), but they are all emtpty (no sound)....
i dnno im kind off confused with ableton.....
p>s. if anyone can send me to an old topic of how to use ableton n tips,, will be also so useful...

what do you want to record? is it an external (line, mic etc.) input? midi?

on ableton you have 2 screens, 1 is the arrrangment window and the other the clips, so what you do on either this pages will differ. Now if you want to record an external sound you can do it on either the pages
lets say you record it on the seq. on top,next to the ovr button, there is another button with 3 lines and an arrow press on it if its red. this way if there is a clip on the channel you are recording on, it will not interact with your recording.
now on the io section make sure you select the right input. you are now ready to record the external signal
read the manual its very easy and quick to get through |
