What is the best way to record a mix to my laptop (PC)? I also have access to an apple iBook. My mixer is a Pioneer 300. Do I need an external soundcard? Or is it just a matter of connecting the audio outs from the mixer to a port on the computer?
Same question for recroding to an MP3 player. |

I don't know about the quality of the 1/8th" ports on the iBook, sometimes there is some noise in any of your recordings. I would try to record something from your mixer into the computer and see if there is any noise issue. So what you would need is RCA to 1/8 inch adapters to do that. If you have the noise issue, then I would suggest getting an external sound card. I am not certain about recording into the MP3 player though... You might be able to only transfer the files.

Thanks for the advice mubali. By 1/8th" port do you mean the headphone jack? or microphone jack? |

You will be using the Microphone jack to record your stuff from your mixer. 1/8" is the technical term for the size of male jack that you would need.
