ok. well ive never had to do this before because ive always recorded in cubase, but now i have to and i cant seem to figure out how. is there some sort of magic trick you need to do to get reason to record notes?

im using reason 2.5 rewired with cubase. i set up a mixer and a synth and i select the synth channel in the sequenceer window and zoom into the edit window for that synth. then i hit record and play and press the notes on the keyboard edit window using the mouse but it doesnt record any of the notes that i pressed. i thought it might be something to do with rewire so i tried using reason on its own and it still doesnt work.

im hoping someone has had the same problem and fixed it.

any ideas?

thanks

On rewire mode you would not listen to the synth cause the midi keyboard is assigned to cubase. So you should try first the reason alone:

have you hit the record enable button on the synth s channel left corner on the sequencer part?? You ll have to activate the midi keyboard enable button and the record enable button..
Can you listen to the sound when you hit your keyboard or can t you even listen to the synth s sound?

obs: some devices as redrum and matrix will need to be right cliked on the mouse and then chosen the "copy patern to track "option.

last question: could you hear the synth sounds before you tried to record them??

u have to opena midi channel in cubase and assign the reason device u want to control/record, remember cubase is now the master and thus all control is made from cubase

Reason is pretty bad software..I don't think you can record..there's a record button near the bottom for MIDI only.
