hi, i wanted to know how to record a synth in cubase in realtime ..and not thru the export function!!!!

for example say i have the default a1 synth of cubase routed to a midi channel and i want to the record the synth playing in realtime to an audio channel..
the reason i want to know this is because i want to tweak some knobs while it records

tnks

If you have a sound card that allows you to do internal routing, its easy. All you have to do is send your synth to an output of you sound card lets say 3-4, and feed it back to in-1.2 via your sound card matrix.

If your sound card does not have an internal routing then do the routing with cables.
I had an m audio long time ago and i use to root the spdif in to the spdif out with an rca cable.

I heard of a software that allows to do internal rooting even though your sound card doesn't have one. but i can't recall its name at this time.

Anyway, once you've done the routing all you have to do is press record on the audio channel that receives the external signal.

Hope it helps

tweak knobs of wat ?? i think u can automate ur knobs on the main layout window of cubase. It goes fr most plugins n vsts.

So whn u replay, the Knobs will move as u wanted thm to move.

well i have a different question about recording synth`s in cubase..... every time i try recording my nord 2 it doesnt come out as loud and as "alive" as it sound when i`m just playing it.
i record through an RME fireface and i record as loud as i can without clipping so where`s the problem ? maybe its time for a new pre-amp?
if u dig deep enough u just might reach the sky...

You have different settings for the inputs on your rme.
Low gain
+4dbu
-10dbv
Set your rme input to +4dbu first if its not enough to-10dbv and that should be enough

Here's a view of the settings:

True, but sometimes it's nice to record while tweaking, for example to record glitches and strange effects that occur when you move from preset to preset.

Try to uncheck the "direct monitoring" at Device Setup. Maybe your are hearing double channell when playing live.           LOADING...

you could use a recorder plugin. voxengo has one that's free.

silverspike tapeit1 (free) works too, my favourite is tapeit2

tweak the synth, record it in realtime... lot of inspiration comes lately of this method.           soundcloud.com/epsylohm

a few days ago i sent out from my fireface a discovery sound and than in again through thr pre amp only this time when i open the pre amp an awful high sound like a whistle began and i had to turn off the monitors. i tought im deaf after that. what did i do wrong? the pre amp are working very good' i use them for an hardawre synth but when its out of the computer this sound starts.

Sounds like feedback. Maybe the sound that comes back in is sent out again to your pre-amp and into the computer etc etc. in a loop. Same thing as when you have a mic near a speaker. Maybe you have some kind of monitoring enabled on your sending channel ?
