u just press record and then u do whatever u want on ur computer and wavelab is recording it.
either is playing movie, playing game, playing music in windows media player
wavelab will record whatever is played from the main output
but be sure in the setting in wavelab to put the correct output (if u have more on your soundcard of course)

In that case if u don't have option to record what u hear on your sound card ... u can put cables from the output to the input and select the input for record and play what u want to record ... because what is going from your output will directly go inside the input

so i am usign rme fireface 400 we must have the same option's.
on the analog output 1 and 2 where i guess is your output routed ... holding ctrl key u press on the buttons AN1 and AN2 and they will become red
becoming red it means wavelab will record whats going trough output Analog 1 and 2
