hey man
well it depend on ur bugget mostly
also note that it wont be probobly ur last comp to buy

anyway i sugest ya not to go for cheap alesis or behrinnger stuff and also dont jump on fancy expencive vintage tube units yet like urey or altec

check those ones

sorry dude but i yet to hear/work with them
those dudes have goot attitude....
not like most of today factories they dont try to make cheap production cost equipment (behringer like) but have oldschool way of aproach looking for best sounding equipment....(if ull notice they are kinda "open source" also posting full schems of their equipment)
again its not top notch of compressors but looks fine to begin with

hehehe that soniccircus is badd ass but really out of my reach that compressor is bout the price of my hartmann neuron!!! to be more precise im willing to spend at very most $1,500 for a compressor but if had the bread that one would be perfect!!! as far as sound im going for is a real round compression that'll give that nice round shaped sound to my kicks and bass! it has to be very distint ya understand... i've tried some that just don't have that nice round compression that im looking for... please HELPPPPP

Hello, whan you talk about round compression
only one word come into my mind and its called
vintage, the only vintage compressor's that knows
how to do the job is the- Neve, API, Drawmer
(Mercenary),Fairchild, Universal Audio(LA 2A) etc......

good FAT&HARD compression you can get only
with vintage compressor's that $cost$ alot but if
you ask me i would go for the Dbx 160A or Dbx
166 very nice compressor's with expencive sound

just know that if you want a good sound youll have to buy outborad EQ and add it to the chain

I guess you want something really hard and pumping, in which case neve is not what I would recommend.
They make very transparent compressors so you can reduce the dynamic range quite a lot without artifacts.

For hard pumping I concur with Manuel duego...dBx 160A will give you a lot of punch and pump.

UA's leveling amplifiers is known to pack together your waveform quite densly as well.           (``·.¸(``·.¸(``·.¸¸.·`´)¸.·`´)¸.·`´)
