I've read the Refill Unpacker only works if you have the reason installed on your computer? Is it true?
I have a Vipzone's 120 mega refill with Micro-Q, Virus & Supernova sounds. I would like to get the Micro-Q sounds, but I don't have Reason and I don't want to use it. Shit!

Yes, you definitely have to have Reason installed. Also, the application needs to be installed in the same directory as the Reason refill files.

Also, it only works with roughly 80% of the refills... but it's better than nothing.

Yes, Chicken Systems Translator is the best tool for translating the samples CD you have on your hands. I use this tool in order to convert my Akai S1000/Roland S760 library into soundfont library. However, the Reason Refill format is not available on Chicken Systems Translator (cos RFL is a proprietary format well-controlled by Propellerheads).

Unless I missed something, the Reason Refill Viewer app is the first app to break the proprietary format... after *7 years* of non-stop attempts. Really, this has been the Holy Grail of music software haxxor fame.

I doubt it. I'm curious if it's even legal.

If it isn't, of course, I'll be immediately deleting it off my hard drive. *cough*

Really, it's lame, Propellorheads should be selling the refill packs, or their own converter. It's foolish to think they're going to win people over from Logic or Cubase just for the refill packs. Kind of a missed opportunity on their part in my opinion.

So far, Refill Unpacker is only available for registered Reason's user. So, if you use Reason warez, you cannot download this tool from the Propellerheads's website, of course. My point is: I don't use Reason, but I would like to use some refills on my samplers (Roland S760 and EXS24). It's a shame you cannot convert RFL format using some another tool. I had a Yamaha A4000 sampler, great sampler, but I sold it because you couldn't convert the A4000 library (proprietary format) into AKAI/Roland format (it's possible to get a A4000-to-WAV converter now, but it's so simple, shit!). Recently, I got some wav's from my old A4000 library, but without any other parameter saved on programs. Shame on you Yamaha! Shame on you Propellerheads!
The Akai S1000/2000 format is beautiful, simple and always works.

yeah i agree too. if they want to win why don't they add vst support? locking rfl just for them will take them nowhere.
