u can make a track only with reason. but the output of reason is not good as cubase or logic`s output so its really recommended to mix your tracks afterwards in such program.
I personally didnt hear of an artist (pro) who works only with reason.
and if so, the mastering is done on another program..

My question was can you make a proffesional track using only reason sounds and plugins?
You say mastering should be done in another software, but do you know of someone who made an entire track using reason only? Im in the process of trying to make a track using reason only, I wll upload it later on to Isratrance.

Depends on what you concider as professional.
For sure you can make good tracks with Reason only, especially if you have ASIO drivers, but i (and every fellow producer I reckon) would strongly recommend you rewire your Reason outputs into a good sequenser (cubase/sonar/logic) and do your mixing in here and apply some vst fx and compression to beef up the sounds. It will most definitly make a difference! |

I feel u can't get like a matrix pattern sequencer in cubase it does help...so... but do use a lot of VSTi's coz the sound is more textured & the softsamplers support direct import of AKAI & ROLAND samples ...fukin PHAT soundz..(a PIV 2.4 is for sure needed..)
in reason u can definately get that sort of "PRO" sound but u gotta really really work hard on it like 2 subtractors playing the same seq & stuff thats now possible wit de CV merger...quite nice...u gotta dig the sound u want ..good monitors saves a lot of time...
happy tweaking... |

Yep Atom the thing I love most about Reason is the Matrix pattern editor. I really miss that in other sequensers! |

ur rite billy...
u can sort of do a similar scene in VST by looping
individual patterns in de key edit page...
I guess the other thing to do in the meanwhile is listen to some chick corea..some pretty dark inspiration.. |

listen to
audiotec & genetic syndrom - the beat of love (audiotec remix)
done only with reason theres lacks here and there if u compare it to big artist with big studios but to a track done with reason and no monitors i think u can reach hige level is all about hard work |

I think u can get really good soundz from Reason. Malmström is incredible and also
NN-XT is. I think the problem here are FXs and mastering. I build up my tracks in Reason and then I export them into Cubase and there is where I process FXs and master the track.
Good Luck |

i have alot of faith in reason... yes i agree that u do need cubase for betta output.. but proffessional production itself on reason is possible.. its all about how u use reason.. i know that Shift uses reason.. and listen to how amazing his production work is.. |

Yeah, Dando. Shift sounds quite good... but does he use ONLY Reason? Probably he master his tracks or send them to a mastering studio. If not, please tell me, because I´d like to contact him to ask some questions... (It would be super-amazing!!) |

hey there,, yeah i use reason 2.5
i have been using reason since it first came out so i have become quite comfortable with writing on it,, but you do need another tool for production and mastering,, i use cubase sx
i do often write tracks completeley as reason files,, (but this is only when i am not in my studio,, eg girlfriends house,, travelling,, in hospital etc) but then i have a cubase template ready to connect everything up and viola one hour later its all rewired niceley and or bounced to audio channels,,
the problem with reason is not the signal generators or the effects, but that bloody shitty mixer and the fact that everything is running simultaneously in midi,,,
avoid the reson mixer - go directly into the harware interface and eq the shit in cubase,, u will get a much clearer sound that way..
also remember that the sunbtractor does make very cool sounds but it is mono,, so to get that nice wide 3d sound use a little chorus on the synth,,
for example,, run the subtractor into a distortion then mono into the chorus and steroeo out (if you run two mono wires into it it won't "spead" the sound)
another nice trick is to do the same sort of thing with the multitap delay on the new reverb unit... and make sure the delays are panned hard rght and left ( if u have amono signal coming in then only use one line,, if u put this after a stero device,, eg chorus or malstrom then u can plug in both inputs,, otherwise make sure all lines runing to the reverb are mono)
reason is a really susefull tool.. but it you want that "produced" sound u must use cubase or logic
dont limit yourself to only two synths,, there are many more vst instruments out there,, i am only just discovering them too
anyway,, i hope you find this useful
ciao guys
chris
