I've heard T-racks can't be beat for the money. anyone had a chance to use the M-class mastering tools yet? Do you think the upgrade is worth it for the average user ($129 USD)? |

NO .... T-rack is stil better if you correctly know how to use it ... morever , when u use t-racks u use the audio engine of a more better prog like wavelab / soundforge ... unlike reason ... which again as some not so good sound algorithms ..

I think that T-Racks can be beaten sound wise and price wise by Voxengo. The Mastering suite is 259$. http://www.voxengo.com

i don't take complete packs, i like to use the components... psp vintagewarmer (is very good as expander too), kjaerhusaudio classic EQ, kjaerhusaudio classic limiter...
this is just an example, i like to use lot's of freeware (because i am a big supporter of the freeware community and the open source community, gonna migrate to linux when i get the chance too freeware cubase (rosegarden), freeware t-racks (JAMin), freeware everything )
but u don't HAVE to use freeware...
what i like about that way of working is that u can change a single component in the chain when u found something that's better or suits u better... and u can change the way in which they are interconnected. Also, people won't be able to hear how u mastered ur audio, and which tools u used. |

its not that simple. Even if T-rack's algorithms are better, are you ok with exporting every sound source to Wav and then mastering in T-racks. Then if something changes you have to do it all over again? I think thats painful. Plus, I wouldnt say either is "great" like Waves. They are better for sound sculpting IMO and not real mastering. But if you are simply talking about a quick master of the whole song as a whole, probably T-racks. |
