Reason Envelope Gate Technique ... ??

hey guys ,
i got this synth line playing in the subtractor or the nn-19 ... i adjusted the filter properly and also set the filter envelope to taste ..  ... now i need this filter to open and close according to some gate information ...
tried connecting a matrix / dr:rex and routing the gate output to the filter envelope gate input on either devices ... but something just dosent sound right ....
any of you guys know how to set up this thing properly ... all help is highly appreciated....

Why don't you just create a sequencer track for the filter and then hand draw the filter automation 
works like a charm! |

yes .. that is a possiblilty ... but i need to know this gate technique for triggering the envelope ... some amazing results can be obtained this way ... |

aah sorry, didn't completely understand the question thought you meant cutoff instead of envelope...
How have you patched the instruments/fx?
Sorry that i'm not the most helpful atm, i don't really use the matrix very much for gating...

no problem , u could even use the dr:rex for this purpose .... look there is a subtractor playing a lead line .... i setup the filter and filter envelope on the subtractor to taste .... next i load a loop in dr:rex and use the slice gate output on dr:drx and patch it into the filter env gate input on the subtractor ... now i just need the filter envelope to open and close according to the gate information ... but i just cant set this to sound proper ... |
