Hello,
This question might have been asked a lot of times, but I cannot find it on the forum.
I am using reason as of now but want to change as it does not support VST.I have used FL studio before, so I feel it wont be a much problem shifting back to FL again apart from CPU hogging and latency issues.
I am a but confused about cubase.I have heard that FL studio 8 has got almost all the features that cubase 4 has.Is that true. The reason I am asking is as I want to work on something stable.Reason is definately gr8 for music production but it lacks VST support.
If some of you can guide me to the right direction, it will be appreciated. Please help. Thanks

I think you should also check out Ableton Live. Its also very easy to get going, and it keeps getting better every time. IT also supports vst.

I guess bandarlog and..WTF ELECTROMONK YOU FOOB! ...
<---cronodevir
...have never heard of ASIO drivers...it makes latency issues a thing of the past. And when did FL not have all the features of cubase? FL5? 4 maybe?
Id get FL7 or 8 if i were you...it can do more than cubase ever could. Its all in the automation |

I guess sixofour never heard of powered plugins like UAD with latency on them, even with asio... Ableton solves this in real time, FL doesn't. The improved new feature only applies for rendering and not for playback. (and yes you can alter delay compensation per efxchannel manually but that's the whole point: it's not compensated automatically)
That's why i rewire and use the powered plugins in ableton. Btw: with midi environment I don't mean asio or latency but rather 'tweak a knob and it's assigned'like in ableton.

my shit better then your shit... try them all out in demo, and decide whichever is more comfortable for you. I ended up in Cubase after working on Fl 1 up to 7 and Reason afterwards. And once you get to know your sequencer, it will become your best friend.

i would recommend ableton live 7 ... if ur looking to use reason as slave cubase is good option .. dunno if ableton can enslave reason (i think not). not a big fan of FL cos i was never really comfortable with the way it works .... demo it all mate and go with what you feel is smoothest to work with!!!
good luck to you!!

FL8... what can I say. I have started playing around with it, still FL, pretty much like it always was. A user friendly interface that works great for me and really is made for the way I work... I guess it is up to you which sequencer to use. Try each of them in demo mode and then, based on what works best for your very own work style choose. Each of them be it FL, Cubase, Pro Tools, Ableton even logic have their own pro's and cons. The question is, what works best for you!
Oh and as far as reason is concerned, Too many cons, although subtractor is imo one of the best synths ever! And that's where rewiring comes in...

you may get a good sound or two out of reason but if you are making trance dont do it. It is just lacking in too many key areas to be your weapon of choice. Fl i have nuthin bad to say about it maybe the name gave it a bad rep but the dxi plugins it comes with mixed with your samples could create a trance track. Cubase has some very high quality plugs with it but this tool is only as good as the plugins you have. What about ableton? very user friendly and it has alot of charachteristics from both cubase and fl. I make all of my sounds into live now then bounce to wavs and arrange/process in cubase. This process works great for me. So pretty much now that im reading exactly what upavas said in slightly different words.

i find Cubase to be a very reliable and straight forward sequencer, wouldnt change it for anything. cant understand why some people think is too complicated, just read some manuals, and once u get it working , it really works

Use cubase AND nuendo as master and ableton and reason as slaves.. Work mostly in cubase but use nuendo for mastering and networking if u work both on laptop and pc, get your loops arranged in ableton, use reason as tone device and be sure to have lots of vsts.. Also incorporate audition or wavelab as addition to mastering..

Yes, me too so +1 for cubase but:
-FL -> soooo quick to start a song
-Live -> i don't know it very well but i am sure that rocks
-Reason -> all in one
-and why not reaper?
The best, as said, is try before buy.
Have fun!!!
