so, i cant make a good sound for bassline. i'm not able. Im looking for a sound like in a cosmic tone, or any old twisted VA. If anyone could explain me how i can, or (thats my dream) give me an rns, i would be pleased. |

Ah, come one... a simple saw + tight envelopes should work in any respectable synth... i'm sure thor can get psy bass done. |

even if you get the best preset in the world it will not be comparable in the slightest to the satisfaction and knowledge you will gain by making your own bass patches yourself.
Sure, it may be really frustrating and it may take you several years before you get a good grasp on it...
but good music takes time. Do your homework! Easy way out = copy paste music!

1+ for Thor
PsyGalaXy did a Combinator patch for it and it sounded huge, i Say sit down and like aciduss experiment with a Saw, But dont forget to experiment with the phase Mod Osc and Even wavetable osc
You play around and you are bound to find a working patch sooner or later...
But that combinator that PsyGalaXy did was like icing on the cake
Dont know what this is, except its a patch
try it

preset making and music making are 2 things
often in psy trance as its almost non musical alot of the time and ment to be psychedelic the preset making consider part of the music making.
i have seen the best musician in my life (out of psy scene) playing on keyboards that have only presets and they never had the idea to change the sounds

I agree with cadmium, maelstrom can make really nice bass, as can thor. Keep it simple and mess around with the env settings, especially filt env decay. Also the basic analog waveform in thors wavetable osc can make some v nice tones.
Also I have found that the gate length of the actual notes used can make a big difference aswell.

as everywhere else.put your adsr to zero, and raise the d a bit ,work with it till you happy.Than you could raise s ,maybe even r or a a tiny bit - that depends, but thats not necesseary as d
Open matrix and draw your notes in, try 16th or 32 th lenght of note and decide what you want more.Or try different, but try and hear.
Use saw as oscilator or pulse or anything else but not sine or noise. Use one oscilator make it simple and strong.
Play with your velocity of notes in matrix, try different settings.
That should be enough for beginning.Absolutely no matter on what synth.

I used to be convinced that it was impossible to come up with a decent bassline on reason but since i got my macbookpro stolen at gunpoint (im in mexico by the way) i had to go bak to using reason 4 on my old desktop and thor has some sik bass.....you are not going to get there right away but read the MOTHER OF ALL BASSLINES thead and follow any and all links on there. Also study that shit like if your life depended on it and keep trying like a motherfucker....I have been producing fullon for a little over three years and i can tell you that only till a couple months ago im getting real fucking close...seriously forget presets and do it on your own and it will open every synth on the planet to get the sound you are looking for...there is no easy way to achieve this exept practice, patience and more practice so keep at it and remember its not about who gets there first...but that you actually do get there |
