I used to use Reason a lot, but like somebody posted, there was just something wrong or missing from my tracks, I cant really put my finger on exactly what it was but it was quite evident that it was there.
Its a great tool and all, espescially for making "slower" tracks, but I would reccommend Ableton Live 5 with Operator and of course Cubase SX. And all the VSTs you can get. Why? Simply because of the freedom you have, but then again, like somebody else already said, any tool is a great tool if you know how to get the most from it. So, experiment and find out what works best for you. |

Hallo all!, sorry for my bad maccheroni-english, im Logic user today, but im my past from 1998 like [!] i used Reason from the 1.0 version after Rebirth, this is an example of my best compression on reason 2.5 in my old track 2004 (the photo is the track below) today i have the 3.0 version and for you i have
inserted a mastering suite to that track for listen the difference..i have try all that its possible on Reason (50/60 complete tracks with one/two compressors
per instrument ) and i have noticed very good results but not pro, i tryed all solutions but the are some problems on sound-exit i didn't find a decent compression(semi-pro)...old-compressors(it need 10 comp for instrument for decent volumes) are bad for me, the mastering suite is better but definitively not pro....now i use for build really blast breackbeats/loops, little sequences, expecially fx's, but need to compress in logic, Reason its good external device and help a lot...thanks to programmers/creators!!!

you would be amazed at the number of profesional producers that actually use Reason...
they just simply don't use only that...
the key to some good synth is sometimes automation
and reason is really good at that for example
and when a subtractor is rewired into the mixer of logic or cubase...the possibilities are endless...
Like one of the first post said here it's all about what's in your head...
Reason is also widely used on most of the mainstream chart toppers productions you hear on the radio
but again when you rewire it into the Pro Tools TDM Mixer
it opens all whole new universe of sounds

I'm a Reason fan, been using it to make various genres of music for a couple of yrs now.
I do find that rendering in reason affects final output quality and reduces the BPM too (Shock!)
Any idea why this happens?
Pairing it with other software seems to be only valid solution ... but for the light pocketed who can't afford to immediately invest in another software, what would be the most efficient solution?

@sismic - file not found
  Nocturnal Wizardz Recs
Bhooteshwara Records
Cubasing is like Freebasing, just with audio.
Both cost more than you can afford, and leaves you sitting in a dark room with no life, craving for more. |

I started with FLStudio, progressed to Reason 2.0, now im using 3.0.
Yesterday installed Cubase SX but I just cant get the sound out, I see it on the VU but I cant hear it.. Else, I got Reaktor, Absynth, Ohmboyz, Vanguard, B4, Battery, Vb-1, Stomper.... Just want to get my hands on Recycle and Rebirth, anyone have that?
Automation is a must..
I searched my old CDs and found out subtractor patches with nord patch and TB 303, sounds cool.
And about bassline, I created it myself, lot of hard work but I think its great, just the sound I want..
SISMIC fix that link
We should exchange patches, dr.loops and .rsn songs.. I listened to some Goa/psy tracks on propellerhead page and I found one really good old school goa song so u can definitely make goa with reason..
Does anyone have these books?

in my opinion , switching from FL Studio to Reason 3 is hardly a progression, as Fruity is an open plataform (vst), and Reason as a main sequencer is very limited. Since u got Cubase u must already tried rewire, i wonder how come there isnt any sound coming out of it?? Those vsts u mentioned are quite good, they could replace reason at all, but rewired can be a very nice complement. thats why i use it. i mainly use dr rex for wicked breaks and sometimes the Subtractor for old school leads. Be sure NOT to use the Reason Mixer and route the soundmodules in reason directly to a rewire channel in Cubase. That improves the sound dramatically!
If u want u can explain me how u have setup reason-rewire-cubase so i might be able to give a few tips.
cheers.

THX pixan.. Ill contact u when I try it one more time.. Basically I first opened Cubase then Reason, activated Reason in Devices and when I press the play button in Reason it plays in the Cubase too as it should and vice versa but there is no sound.. I linked the subtractor directly to the third chanel on the hardware interface on reason and as I said I see it on VU of third chanel but nothing from the speakers.. Or maybe thats just too complicated for me Ill get Cubase tutorial soon so weŽll see how things will be going.. And I agree its not much of progress.. Which VST do u use the most of the ones I mentioned? Do u have some other? I need Rebirth and Recycle still.. |
