well the modular engine in reason rocks, can give you lots of creative possibilities, but yeah no way to use it alone. get it rewired with FL or SX.

THAST TRUE reason probably is a kind of master for modulating vsts in toher words a huge vst manager ...im not saying reason can provide vst manipulation just think it in this way .. reason has its own reason vsts inside.. but what aabout the combinator on the last version wich u can mix lots of sounds generating new sounds with some good quality?

I liked reason alot but after stepping up to more hardware it just doesnt fit well audibly with everything else I still use it for the sampler and redrum also occaisionally simple synth fx with subtractor and malestrom but for whatever reason the sound quality just is never good enough for a whole song as far as bass goes ive spent countless hours trying to perfect a bass with subtractor ive gotten some decent bass sounds but the low end is awful you can never get the power with it I rewire to sx3 but im weening myself off of it completely it just doesnt produce good results yes you can produce goa/psy with it but it will never be as good as it could or pro for that matter now im just waiting to see reason 4 if they throw the same few lame additions in then I will forget about it but they have the opportunity to make reason a competitor. anyone thinking of starting in reason dont I spent a couple years in fl the went to mac so i went into reason 2 years and 13 songs later I still couldnt make it sound good enough. then I had to make another awkward switch to cubase but even the first track had so much more feeling then any of the 13 I made in reason. start with a serious daw you wont get instant results but you also wont be wasting your time. and if you insist on starting more simple go with fl or tracktion. im out.

You can always "Re-wire" Reason into Cubase, Acid Pro and Logic. And, the possibilities just increased a whole lot. Reason is a good tool, as long as you know how to make the best use of the tool. I use Reason often infact.

To explore more into Reason, check out the Book "Reason 3 Overdrive!". Written by C.L. Martin, the one and only Bodhisattva 13:20.
