im facing a problem with one pc that has a mind of its own
realy unstable

shes a 2,8 p4 1 g ram kingston 333mhz with an emu 1212 audio card
does emu showed drivers problems ive changed the drivrs and put the newest ones but its all the same
example i try to play an avi file in cubase sx2 to add some sounds to it and its constantly crashing
the same plays very good in the laptop
when i switch a track in cubase to another it stops making any sound but appears to work properly no sound though!!!!
is it a ram problem?????
not a heat problem
not timming rams problem (i have tryied averything )
no hd problem (tested)
maybe graphics drivers are shitty??(fx 5700 nvidia)
PLEASE HELP ME I CANT FINISH A TUNE !!1

hey man hows it going...
i don't think its the computer sounds very powerful to me...
more like problems with audio drivers...
if you can test the computer using the onboard soundcard on you motherboard...
your laptop works because it is using onboard sound i assume... no conflicts there... and i assume the laptop has much less ram so i don't see how its ram related...
if your desktop works using onboard sound then u know for sure it is soundcard/drivers...
the solution i don't know.. but at least u know what the problem is |

well my friend my best advice to u ... chek too if u have your computer to the AC CORD connected to the ground !!
then if try to change the por were u connect your emu ...
if there is any PCI slot .. try changes slot ... more far from the video card bether ..
then in the bios setup ...
go the the memory .. and chek wich speed u have .. FAST is enough ..
then .. the freq .. let the PC correct the freq he whant to use .. so put it on automatic ..
then chek the CPU setting .. if everything is ok .. chek your manufacturer instruction from the cpu and PC ..
then if non of this problems help .. maybe u sould format it again and reistall everything .. and this time .. use one disck only for windows .. and programs for windows .. like drivers ertc .. ..
and a second disck .. to work only with audio .. and programs for audio .. and then make this optimization that dopamin said ..
boomo
best regards and good luck |

that obviously depends if you want it overclocked or not...too much overclock creates instability, but enough, gives you only more processing, specially if you u have a water cooling system (like me)
and the mem...if i have dual channel memory, why not to use it in the max?

max can make the system hang .. or crash more easy , so .. turbo is to much .. put FAST .. and let the bios get the correct speed for the ram .. and let the cash latency just with the values that the bios give to the ram ..
chek maybe if u have the correct FREQ in your cpu .. 100mhz .. or 133 mhz ..
and of course have one disck for iwindows . and outher disck only for audio .. and chek about the PCI slots .. change the card to outher slots ... then .. go to .. menu START - PROGRAMS - ACESSORIES - SYSTEM TOOLS - SYSTEM INFORMATION
then click on hardware resources chek IRQ and chek if u have HARDWARE .. that have the same IRQ .... for ex .. if u have .. sis blabla to usb with irq X and your grafic card have the same IRQ .. its not a problem ... just only if u see that u have for ex .. sound card in the same irq that the video card or outher pci plug and play.
