if you use logic i find it s a very good digital drum synth but just for kick you can make usable one from many softsynth if you use a other daw...though for not much more money than a plug you can get some analog stuff that will give better result ,more depth ,less cheap ,more dimension less 2d sound with things like mbase or dark energy

DH you speak of putting the click of the kick in a room, I listened for this in your tracks that I have and I think I can hear it, sounds nice!
You advocate using a plate reverb, I understand the concept of plate reverb in the physical world, but I dont have the capability to construct such a device (speaker next to a suspended metal plate and adjacent microphone, etc).
Is there a digital emulation of this type of reverb (plugin), or is there a way to tweak a standard reverb plugin to achieve plate reverb sound? I have tried this tweaking, but I am having difficulty.....

Agreed, the sound of the Doepfer VCF in self oscillation modulated by the Doepfer ADSR, yields massive, dense and organic kick drums. Tho you gotta tune in very well to get the same solid tuning that you get from soft synths.

Thanks in advance
For twangy spring reverbs and trashy vintage plates I go to Logic's Space Designer which is an IR reverb and has some brilliant impulses. On top of that Space Designer is extremely programmable and easy to get to what I want using the basic: rooms, halls, plates, springs, ambience, chamber, concert and warped space for them special effect buss to send any sound from the mix.
For the 3rd party plug ins the Lexicom PCM bundle is by far the best software reverb to my ears, but it costs 1570 USD!
There's the Sony Oxford reverb that is very nice and is my go to reverb for synthesized spaces.
There's some other good IR reverbs that are good. Do a google search and look them up.
