So, I went through plenty of trouble getting the finicky Reaktor 4 to get automation and controller assignments down in SX2.
Eventually, with lots of exploring and some helpful tips from people here, I got everything working and making sense.
So I recently upgraded to SX3 and... surprise surprise, automating Reaktor all fucked. All of the automation lanes that used to be labeled now have generic terms (p001, p002, p0003 etc...)
Anyone else come across this? Am I overlooking something obvious?
I really love Reaktor, but it's the most cumbersome thing I've ever worked with and I don't think I have the patience to keep at if it's going to be like this at every turn. And people wonder why the Vanguard is so popular...

i can't help you, but was wondering what problems you have before with Reaktor 4 and SX2? I ask cause i'm having problems a lot lately, basically Cubase crashes when i activate the Read button for automation (and probably cubase needs to read to much parameters at once or something?) :-S |

Certainly no crashes... my problems were automatable CC parameters not showing up in the expected window, etc.
If you're getting crashes, you really should check for updates. 2.2 is the final version of SX2, and SX3 is up to 3.02.
Also Reaktor 4 is up to 4.13 I think.
Anyway... as for my situation, I got Reaktor to record automation in SX3 a different way than before... it's now recording automation info to the MIDI channel instead of the VST automation channel. Wierd!
Since none of the automation parameters were showing up labeled, I did the right-click MIDI learn function to select a knob and Write enabled everything across the board... and it recorded my Filter Cutoff automation in the MIDI channel under the "pan" controller lane! That's just messed up... anyway, I'm glad I got it working in one sense, and yet it's clearly a bug or mis-routing/CC controller conflict of some sort. I'm glad it kind of works, but I'd prefer that it made sense.... D'oh.

i wouldnt spend to much time on this, reaktor 5 is just sick so you may as well wait if you plan at all on upgrading. r5 is rock solid in sx2.
I think the best way to avoid headaches with reaktor is to just figure out what your going to automate and then set the ID in the 1-10 range. Then if you just get the ID number its easy enough to figure out what param it is. |
