I'm really amazed by the dynamics and the amazing power of the version 5 of reaktor... those sounds... and those synth are simply delightfull.
Up to now i've been using elemens of reaktor as VST's in cubase in 24bits/48000Khz which has already improved the overall quality and richness of my sound but i wonder if anyone has used reaktor to produce a track completely without using a vst host. With the internal definition in 128bits of the software the sound coud be amazing i suppose... I was told that experimental artists such as aphex-twin or venetian-snares (which are not particularly trance artists - but very fine technicians) only work with reaktor from beginnning to end.
My problem is this ... i havn't yet found a decent ensemble in reaktor to sequence midi and automation in a classical "cubase/logic" fashion. All the sequencing ensembles are sort of pattern based and implemented like old fashionned vintage analog sequencers and not very good for writing for someone with cut/paste habits.
So is there a reaktor expert who knows more or less how to proceed ? Is there a usefull tool out there in the user library ? Is it simply worth the hassle ?
i'd definitely like to hear something produced solely with reaktor if anyone has pushed it this far ! |

well there is no specific ensamble for that althou there is alot of sequensers thats prety good to start with
then ull need to start tweaking it to build actualy whole track.... add effects and dynamics and such maybe combine few different ensambles even
not that hard but u need some idea of whats going on inside
about if anyone actualy has pushed it this far answer is yes and even further

why would you want to do with reaktor, something you can achieve already with Cubase/Logic/Protools?
5Meo-Geo
Tim Exhile as well as many other artists (have a look at PLanet-Mu rec label) for instance use Reaktor for live performance and build their own ensambles.

reaktor is one of the most powerfull software i ever saw/used. nevertheless i believe that it should be used with host. i don't really think that 128 can improve the quality in compare with even 24 bit. theoretically yes but practically... i'm not sure.
i made some tracks with reactor already, using albino for bass and everything alse in reaktor (including fx) and that track sounds great.

Ehhmmm no of course i didnt mean that ehehhehe.
But if his target is to build up an ensamble that do the same things as....lets say cubase........then what's the point?
For anyone who want to learn how to build up their own ens id suggest to start tweaking the pre existing ones.
One of the 1st things i do when i find an ens i like is to give it separate outputs (so that i could route them inside my host application and put on each a different effect). |

Umm..128 bits? Where did that info come from? As far as I know, it's just 32 bit floating point as usual, with possibility of 64 bits. There is absolutely no single benefit you get from 128 bit compared to 64 bits. At least not until processors support that natively.

The reaktor sequencers etc aren't that flexible. They've improved a lot since the early days, but if you want logic/cubase-like sequencer, why not using them for sequencing and running reaktor as stand-alone? You just need to create some virtual midi ports with Midi Yoke (http://www.midiox.com/index.htm).
And by the way. Even if the reaktor uses 128-bits internally, the output will still be max. 32 bits float. So, you could run it inside a host and it wouldn't matter - again even if the internal precision would be 128 bits while running as a VST.
My suggestion is that don't go stand-alone. Doing live-act is one thing, but for sequencing it's much harder. |

Just started my final project at Sound Eng. school. It will be a Reaktor emulation of Roland JP8080. Looks like i have a lot of work and very limited knowledge of the program and it's possibilities. Gonna be interesting for sure.

thanks everyone ...
and Pavel, i'd love to try your emulation someday ! anyways good luck...
Yes tex-mex ... thanks for the midi-yoke idea that makes it possible to use reaktor as a stand alone. i hadn't thought about it. I have it installed on my computer because i use it sometimes to patch another software called rejoice (pretty funky ... transforms any game controller into a state of the art ergonomic midi controller !). The dream thing with this would be to drive your live set with 2 flight simulation joysticks (one for left handed and one for right handed) :-0 |

pavel send me the feedback osc desing plz when u done
and texmex for me working on reaktor is way more inspirational than working in logic
like i would do in reactor stuff i would never make at logic and vise-versa
so i think its fun to atleast try coze it is posible and maybe ull even like it Jesus didnt dance, but his beat goes on
