re-encoding of audio files

hi guys
i dont know if this post should be in this section but anyways.....i wanted to know if re-encoding of mp3s into mp3s but with a higher bit rate of any use........for eg. if i re-encode a 128kbps mp3 to a 360kbps one will there be a improvement in the sound quality

Offcourse not, it will only degrade.
It's like recording from one video tape to another. Or from video tape to DVD. In the best case the quality remain in the worse case it will degrade.

think photo. you have a Black and white photo (low info, 128kbps) if u take a colour picture of that photo it will still be black and white.

another kinda dumb question.............will the audio quality worsen if i convert mp3s into audio cds.........cos i got some really old mp3s from bands of the 50s and 60s which are not so easily available
