One issue that has always puzzled me is what is to become out of this Trance world of ours IF it is to become desirable, as a market, to large corporations, interested in promoting & merchandising their goods / services within this scene. And companies not necessarily related to music or any form of art.

I suspect that, it this happens, it could prove professionally rewarding to the artists and organizers themselves, both financially and in terms of a widened perspective.

But then, wouldn't this "world" of ours , as we've grown accustomed to, vanish out in the air, being replaced by some form of a tamed and socially "edible" artistic & leisure activity, say, as it goes with the commercial dance music ?

Foresight or prejudice ?

I suppose it depends on the ethics and morals of the producers, labels and promoters, and on how they deal with the prospect or possibility of increased financial gain.

I feel that one reason the psytrance scene has been such a positive one is that it is based on a net 'giving' of energy and resources by all its participants; people do what they do for the scene not because of what they get out of it but because it feels so damn good to do it. The problem with being financially rewarded for what you do is that it is all too easy for the money to become the reason for doing it - this is when things lose their soul. I've felt this myself, at times, and it's not verey nice if, like me, you've always tried to do things mindfully and for what you consider to be 'the right reasons'.

Everyone involved in the scene can help benefit our community as a whole - and themselves - by trying to remember at every step of the way exactly why they got involved with trance in the first place. Was it for the money? Or for the sheer joy of giving people an experience that will stay with them for years after and maybe even change their lives for the better, and the feeling of humility, of blessed good fortune for being involved in something quite so profound?           Mastering - http://mastering.OOOD.net :: www.is.gd/mastering
