Big ups to Vaeya for trying to do somethang off the beaten track, but it begs the question, why isn't he getting more bookings??

Very valid points. This may come across from me as a rant (even if it does, its alright btw!) , but something needs to be put across.

How often do our own acts perform in our own country ? It's come across very rare these days, and more so very surprisingly.

Our music is featured worldwide. We have enough acts whose music is of good interest (some, on some of the best labels) and yet, we perform like once in a light year here.
(And im not taking into consideration, the Goa season, which is 90% a free scene anyways). Most countries (let me quote Australia, Germany, UK) flourish with their own acts, they build the music scene with their own acts. The local promoters support them with events now and then. People here for some reason, dont want to shell 10$ for the good local ones, but they dont mind shelling 100$ for the shitty int'l ones.

Here, every promoter looks to bring an int'l act for any event, not that its not good, but... the result in the past 2 years is all the same. Loss of money.. and lot of cribbing. While u have enough acts within here, u can easily make it a decent one financially without any fear of losses. but no, it doesnt happen... why? Too many shity promoters who dont know jack about the music, or how to build a scene or a community. As a result, lot of good acts, djs.. left to be as support acts for the int'l ones, so that the promoters can hope to squeeze in a little bit of their following for the party. We have even organised FREE parties, feat. local talent... and still very low turnout, when the following week an int'l act who is hardly wanted in the circuit anymore, makes a lot of money, while the promoter sits scratches his head with a GIGANTIC GUESTLIST!

There are very and i mean very few promoters who are pushing the local ones. And i have great respect for them, as this is the only way that a good vibrant scene can grow within. This is from my experience as an artist, dj & promoter.

coming back to the original topic... i hate to rate music, because it is a matter of
taste and choice.

But if i had to mention artists, i would say Alien Mental/Sonik Scizzor... is at the top of the game, constantly pushing the barrier.

Jigar aka Silent Horror's new stuff that i've been hearing has also been very good, and quite an upheaval from the previous style.

As for Mr Gidra, he's cookin something really nasty these days! . Farebi is really corking up the organic front and Sandy White Wizard with an interesting hybrid.

Vaeya is a our progressive saviour... finally!

Dj's i havent heard that many in the recent past, but i would def. mention Dj Nitin, Spike Me mike for the morning sessions.

And yes we def. are in need of mroe diverse producers. I know theres quite a few lurking in the tech/house scene... with some solid releases and remixes..... but def. mroe good morning and progressive acts!

I hope sometime soon people understand and realize the value and start pushing events with more local talent. And then yes, we can proudly say... we HAVE A GOOD SCENE!

Peace

totally agree with you Braindrop... sadly this is what is actually happening around in the "scene".

I am a part of a group who organize small gigs in Delhi & i have been trying to convince the rest of the gang to get Indian acts for our gigs with almost no luck yet (except for the ones in Delhi). Its sad but true. I hope the orgs (including the one i work with) understand the priorities.

Also as you mentioned the problem is with the turnout. With no international name on the line up, the turn out is terribly low, the party looks like a bunch of organisers' friends having a private thing.           We were born naked & grow up to become wicked.

Also, just as an aside, Vaeya tells me that Vinayak^A is cranking out some pretty fly choonz too ...           "If Pac-Man had affected us as kids, we'd all be running around in dark rooms, munching pills and listening to repetitive electronic music."

Brian

Farebi

Silent horror

Gidra

Vaeya

Paraforce

Catalepsy (RIP)

dj-- shivamoon - since he totally blasted the morning in- tandaav in the hills. that was the only time i heard him belting phaat tunes.

And yes about indian acts not getting booked, its basic ..thing, the mentality, the 'crowd' prefers international acts(firaangS) rather than some good talent. At least that happens here in my city.
If we would do some scene with only few desi ass kickers, only few would come. and if you have a prime international act then loads of people come, isn't it ?
i just scrolled back up saw dogon has written abput it already.

Scene needs to evolve, mindsets need to change, support local talent.
And have good fun at parties rather than showing off nasty(in a bad way) attitudes.
I say this because when someone(happened to my close friend in deli in the zoolog party) has too much fun on the floor then some lame pricks go and try to 'fry' and do what they can do best.. be a dick ! LAME! Whatever man, I am goin off topic ! sorry ! anyways no need to get any hands dirty KARMA gets everybody !

Love and light !

yep, Vinayaka's stuff is very tight and quite trippy at times.

check it out : http://soundcloud.com/vinayaka

The techno scene in India is actually very evolved right now, with an influx of DJs and producers from the psytrance, progressive and 'edm' circuits.
