well PT archiving is for PT users.
I see many artist using RAR for archiving their work, which is a general format vs Flac, which meant to be just for audio. Why is that?

Protools doesn't compress the files. To be honest I don't know of anyone that compress their audio files for their music projects.
Prottols creates a work folder where it safes all your session data, audio files, fade files, video files, plugin presets etc. You can then take this to another studio with Protools and away you go. |

You shouldn't try to discredit them, because you don't know it. They are some of most skilled and knowledgable artists in this genre.

Yeah I bet they do great music and are great artist but when it comes to handling files which has nothing to do with art, looks like they just dont get it.. Its just not the best and quickest way of doing it.. When rared u dont even have option to listen to tracks unless u decompress and what to say about importing them straight to project and work on them as they are which u can do with flac..

Why you want to listen to a project, when you are finished with it and want to archieve it, in order to send it to the label, disto or provide for download?

Flac for ripping CDs. For my own tracks I just archive the self contained project files, copy them to a backup drive, and burn them to DVDs that I put in a little hidden box.
  You believe in the users?
Yeah, sure. If I don't have a user, then who wrote me? |

Do you store the box on different premises in case of a fire? |

As do I, got into it because I use it for visual media, but yes, I sure like LE! Especially the new LE8

I have never used flac, I usually rar and could not ever tell any difference sound wise...
