I am actually thinking of getting myself a system with i7 processor and ddr3 triple channel memory.
1. Are there any issues regarding win xp pro 64 bit and this kind of ram?
2. Are there potential incompatibility issues with say any kind of music software, sequencer etc I have to watch out for?
3. How much faster is an i7 processor compared to say a Core duo quad 9550?
4. Does anybody have experience with the i7 cpu's?

I7 systems are way to overpriced if you look at the DDR3 prices and the motherboard prices. For a i7 system you can get a duo or a PII system for like half the price.
Keep in mind that with triple channel you need memory sticks in pairs of 3,6 and so on.
I was actually looking at the I7 system but instead i went for a PII for less than half the price and in the end more bang for the buck.

Total amount payed with todays dollar exchange rate: 566,90 USD =) but with todays prices youŽd get the same equipment for like 20-30$ less than i payed 1 month ago.
One more thing take into consideration that the i7 consumes alot more power as well so that will contribute to your energy-bill more than you think
