The end of October marks many a reason to celebrate. Since the dawn of time humans have celebrated the harvest with feasting and indulgence in pleasures of the flesh. Pagans mark the completion of the turning of the wheel of the year and the start of a new cycle. Mexicans mark this time with lavish parties in cemetaries and macabre costuming to celebrate the cycle of life and death. Christians celebrate the numerous minor deities in their so-called monotheism with All-Saints' Day. When our movement's agents were young, we solicited neighbours for candy dressed as our heroes of the time. Today, children and adults sadly see this magical time as just one more night in the year...
Resistor hopes to change the perception held by many of the walking-dead our society has created. By disguising ourselves and reveling in the night, we hope to reclaim the spirit of these wonderful celebrations. We are offering cash prizes for the best costumes in this, our first Hallowe'en party. There is no discount for those who show up in costume, as all are expected to comply with our orders for this mission. Be creative in preparing for this event, early in the Hallowe'en week, as our movement marches against the dreadfull forces of complacency and normalcy, so prevailent in today's twisted world. We welcome and encourage those who want to make political, social, or comedic statements, and, as always, suitable cyber-guerilla-military attire is acceptable. With our mind-twising deco, dark, tribal rhythms, psychedelic mindscapes, field rations of fruit and candy, Electronic Technician manned Jamming Station, and the best vibe ever to sound out across Toronto, we are assured of victory in our pursuits.
Electronic Jamming Station in the Field HQ:::
Hosted by Rare Zoo Babies, our second open-electonic-jam promises to offer listeners and musicians a unique experience. Expanding on the Meeting of the Minds concept, where local electronic musicians have been gathering bi-weekly to share ideas and experience. This is an actual jam session with a PA where anyone can MIDI synch and try to join in. Please bring your own gear and cabling, and please try to arrive early (10-11) to get setup.
Hosts welcome additions to the MIDI bank, and all who bring equipment are asked to synch and contribute. Musicans are encouraged to bring their own gear, loops and cabling and arrive early to get the most out of this musical meeting of the minds. At any one time numerous producers may be contributing to the beautiful soundscapes that electronic devices can create. A fusion of many styles and levels of expertise will give our agents an intellectual experience that they'll never hear again, as all of the music created in the Jamming Station (designed to muddle and destroy foreign electromagnetic transmissions like radio waves and thought control beams) will be created live and spontaneously.
